Cover It Up

David didn't think I needed my last purchase. I disagreed. His reasoning makes some sense--he is the one that does the all of ironing in nuestra casa.

But, I do make trips to the basement here and there, and the old ironing board cover was just not my style at all. Hello red, white, and blue! I love me some America, but stripes in those colors just don't do it for me.

But, never fear, Homegoods always comes to the rescue for me. At only $10 how in the world could I pass up this absolutely lovely yellow and grey damask number?

I almost want to make some pillows out of it! Now, for the rest of the basement...well she's got a long way to go!

What's Good In Your Hood {Omaha}

It's Wednesday and time for our newest craigslist hunt. We're off to Omaha this time around and it seems as if the pickins' were slim. Let's see what I was able to round up!

{I love this thing!}

{I think this would be excellent painted!}

{A little spray paint and a new shade would do wonders!}

I hope someone found something that might work perfectly for them! If you want me to search your craigslist just send an email to Nuestravidadulce@gmail.com and I'll add it to the list.

Happy humpday, folks. : )

Scouty Lou

Our newest baby girl is a bit camera shy. We've had her for a couple months now but our lack of pictures would make you think differently.

She's a sweet one and runs this house like she's lived here her whole life. She and Niko are like brother and sister, or so David says since I'm an only child, because they only want a toy when the other one has it.

They fight and growl at each other and really leave no moment uneventful. I think they may love each other, but really, who knows. They're both extremely jealous of one another, but when one of them yelps or cries for any reason the other one is right there to comfort them. It's really an adorable little sight.

I'm just finally happy that I kinda snapped a cute shot of her on the lookout for squirrels. : )

That little bandana always makes me smile.

{Don't let the animal print scare you...reupholstering is a breeze! ; )}

{Love it!!!}

{Terrible pic, but I would repaint and use in an office space!}

$40 = $1600, Right?

Wow. Wow is about all I could say. I'll make this short and sweet, promise. I went to the doctor on Wednesday, paid what I thought was my $40 copay and came home. {P.S. I went to see the doc for enlarged lymph nodes in my neck...all seems to be A-OK}.

David came home and said, "My bank card was declined tonight when I tried to get gas." Ummm, what? That is not possible. We're not richie-mcrichersons but we do have a stable amount of cash cushion in our account.

So, I went straight online to our account and found that the doctor's office had charged me nearly $1600 for my office visit? Whhhhaaaat?!?! Because it was after 6 p.m. I couldn't call the office or the bank until the next morning. I was fuming and nervous about any overdraft fees should bills start clearing.

So, long story short, I called them the next morning and they apologized for their error {not as profusely as I would've imagined} and refunded the money to my account.

Now, if only my bank would post it I'd be almost $1600 richer. Still playing the waiting game, friends.

Lesson of the day---always check your receipts. I know I will from now on, no matter how much of a hurry I'm in!

Happy Friday, lovelies. I'm thinking about going here this weekend. : )

DIY Modern Farmhouse Table? I Think So!

So I love this look that I found on rate my space. I fell in instant love with the ghost chairs, table and white west elm chairs, as well.

I tried to replicate this image, but I really need the table to make it all mesh. The table and chairs were a craigslist find and while I painted the chairs white and reupholstered the seats with burlap, I didn't lay a finger on the table. Oh and the ghost chairs...those were an Overstock purchase and I couldn't be happier with them!

I found a table that I love via West Elm, but the nearly $600 price tag has me a bit gun shy. I mean, how am I supposed to afford this and a $600 stroller for a kid who's not even thought of yet? ; )

I've been saving up my points on mypoints.com but at this rate it'll take two more years to be able to afford it. And then, well, who knows what I will like. My constant ever-evolving taste seems to always do this to me.

Anyhoo, the point of the story is that Ana, over at Knock Off Wood, offers up free design plans to make some of the most sought after furniture from Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and Williams and Sonoma. For free I tell you!!!! Now, since you're reading my blog, I'm positive you will recall already reading YHL's post on her as well. She is getting some much deserved press and kudos to her!

And what do you know? She has the plans for the West Elm table! Now, I am nowhere near as talented as this girl is, not even in my wildest dreams. But, my friends, and this is a big but...my father-in-law is. He is a master at all things DIY. He's helped us tile our tub surround, paint every square inch of our home, install sinks, change out light fixtures, hang all new interior doors, rehab our kitchen cabinets and the list goes on and on...

Wonder if he'd be up for making a dining room table from scratch??? I buy, I attempt to help during the building process, and he really builds. Seems like the perfect combination. ; )

I'll keep you updated.

I Promise You, We Aren't

But, that does not stop me from researching every possible baby stroller I'd buy if we were. I'd totally go for this one if it were up to me and money was no object.

It's modern and lovely and I even watched a review of it on youtube. What is wrong with me?

And, just remember...I am NOT pregnant. I promise I would tell you guys in a much cooler way. ; )

Happy weekend!

St. Louis Peeps--This One's For You

Thanks to our dual snow day, the Mr. and I made a little trip out to one of my favorite new furniture stores earlier this week. There are only two in the metro area, but they are totally worth the trip. They have contemporary/transitional pieces that resemble higher end pieces. And the major plus is that their prices are pretty reasonable and their selection is classic yet current. I linked their logo below, but their website does not offer all the goodies you will see. I guarantee that the in-store shopping experience is 10x better.

They have beds, sofas, chairs, lamps, rugs, and tons of accessories. You will love this store, promise. David and I actually made quite a big purchase there on Tuesday, but I'll leave you waiting until it comes in before I spill all the beans.

Let me know if you've been or end up going. I want to know what you think! : )

What's Good In Your Hood {Toronto}

We're headed up North and out of the country for this Wednesday's edition of "What's Good In Your Hood."

I've never visited Canada before, but my hockey player/loving husband would love me even more if we planned a trip there soon. : )

Let's see what fun deals are lurking about!

{So fun!}

{I ♥ their shape!}

Toronto craigslisters want a pretty penny for their stuff! I'm guessing that there is a lot of bargaining and negotiating going on there because the prices are outrageous!

If you like what you see and you want me to search your craigslist, just drop an email to Nuestravidadulce@gmail.com and I'd be happy to add it to the list. Check the side bar ---> to see if your city's already posted first. : )

Happy Hump Day everyone. My snow day is over and I'm back to see my kiddos today.

My Favorites

Lately I've been getting lots of new readers and I just wanted to take a moment to say "hello and welcome!" I hope you like reading what you see. Since many of you are new and are being brought here by DIY links I thought I'd rally up some of my favorite and most looked at posts for your viewing pleasure. I love that so many of us adore great design but are bargain hunters at the same time. : )

DIY Trellis Pillows {with my mom's help : ) }

Blogging is so fun to me and I truly look forward to every single comment I receive and the oodles of inspiration I gather from all of you! Someone asked my husband why I blog and if I "get" anything in return. He answered, "nothing tangible but it makes her happy and she loves it." So true, D. So true.

Have a wonderful Thursday! Looks like we may be getting snow tonight/tomorrow. : )

xoxo
