It's Friday!

Wahoo! It's the weekend....almost. I know I said I'd be better at blogging soon, but I promise it's coming. I'm finally feeling like I'm in a routine so more posts are in the line-up. I am really enjoying my classes this year, and so far, my students have been great kiddos. As many teachers know, this early stage is the "honeymoon phase" so things could always change. I'm staying positive though because I believe they'll continue to be great and impress me. : )

This Friday I'm leaving you guys with images that make my heart smile. I seriously have some of the best people in my life. One of my best friends, Cori, sent me this adorable card and sugar skull image for my birthday.

She saw it on my pinterest months ago and bought it for me. When I opened it I almost cried. What a thoughtful gift. Who doesn't love a surprise gift in the mail from a dear friend? Definitely one of the highlights of my week.

This past weekend my mom and I treated Maw Maw to her very first hour long massage and pedicure for her birthday. She absolutely loved it and that made me so happy. Maw Maw deserves the best and I'm glad she got to feel completely pampered.

While Maw Maw was getting the special treatment my mom and I took a trip to Target. I spotted these faux bois over-sized pillows and almost made a pair of them mine.

I was thinking I could use them on our new bed. Ultimately I left them there because they just weren't fluffy enough for me. Maybe they'd be better suited to a sofa set-up. I think they're a great accent choice!

And finally, I snapped this picture of Scoutie Bear waiting for her Daddy to get home. She sits on the couch the entire evening until he walks in the door. To say she is obsessed with David is an understatement.

I am so glad we rescued this sweet pup. We fall more and more in love with her everyday!

That's it for me. Have a fabulous little weekend, friends.

A New Camera Lens For Me!

I was so excited this Christmas to get a new lens for my Nikon d60! My father and mother-in-law gifted me with the Nikkor 35mm! I've read on a few blogs here and there that this lens was a nice addition and a good investment. I hope to learn all about it in the new year. I would really love to get better quality pictures and train my eye to capture those moments, ya know?

I had some time this weekend and played with it a little over break and I am loving it so far!

I captured a couple goodies of my sweet little family.

What A Difference A Year Makes

One year ago yesterday, Dave and I welcomed a scared little doggie into our family of three. Niko Harper was none too sure of his new furry sister but has managed to adapt to her quite well. I'm not sure there is a deep love between Scoutie Bear and Niko, but they do have each other's backs and that makes my heart smile...sappy, I know.

Photobucket

Scoutie's grown from a measly 9 pounds to a hearty 13 pounds. She loves her brownie bear toy to pieces, goes to bed like a champ, is a complete and total daddy's girl, and is the perfect bye-byer. She's just what we needed and I totally believe we rescued her from a very sketchy environment. She's happy as a clam in her new home and that pleases David and I to no end.

Photobucket

Yesterday I stopped by Four Muddy Paws on my way home and picked up an "Adoption Birthday Cookie Cupcake" for our sweet girl. I used our new and free flip cam to document the treat fun.

She loved it and {eventually} devoured it and Niko was a jealous mister. We evened the score by giving Niko some treats too, but alas, his allergies weren't having them so that was a bummer. Niko loved the flavor of the new treats but licked his paws all night. Ugh, I hate that finding food for him that he can actually enjoy completely is almost impossible.

Anybody else's dog have severe food allergies?

P.S. Yup, I'm asking again...have you voted? Yes? Why, thank you!

It's A Rough Life

Being home all day in the summer lets me see how my just how my doggies live. Apparently Scoutie-Bear is quite exhausted. She spends most of her day in some sprawled out position on this chair.

Photobucket

She is quite the cutie and has made her way comfortably into our hearts. We love her and Niko Harper so much. I'd have more dogs running wild around this house if potty training wasn't so dang hard!

Scouty Lou

Our newest baby girl is a bit camera shy. We've had her for a couple months now but our lack of pictures would make you think differently.

She's a sweet one and runs this house like she's lived here her whole life. She and Niko are like brother and sister, or so David says since I'm an only child, because they only want a toy when the other one has it.

They fight and growl at each other and really leave no moment uneventful. I think they may love each other, but really, who knows. They're both extremely jealous of one another, but when one of them yelps or cries for any reason the other one is right there to comfort them. It's really an adorable little sight.

I'm just finally happy that I kinda snapped a cute shot of her on the lookout for squirrels. : )

That little bandana always makes me smile.

Pet Picture

I love photo Christmas cards. You'd never know it, cause I never send 'em, but I really love them! Every year I have intentions of doing some of our own, but it just never happens. This year has crept up on me as well and looks like we won't be getting photo cards out anytime soon. But, I still wanted to pose little Scout and Niko for a brother and sister pic, just in case.

I thought it'd be easy. Um, yeah, not so much. We started off like this...blurry seemed to be the theme.

Then some barking ensued...

And finally they said, "Peace out, Mom!"

I gave in and settled for some solo pictures of my two cutie patootie pooches. Niko was definitely the easier of the two, and the most photogenic, but he's been used to having a million pictures taken of him since his birth.

He, no joke, has the folder with the most images on our computer. Ha. : ) I can"t wait to see how I am with a human baby someday!

Scouty, on the other hand, has no idea what to think of getting her picture taken. She finally gave in a little, but insisted on laying down. She is quite the diva and the boss around these parts.

Someday I'll get a cute picture featuring both of my doggies. Someday...: )

Welcome Home, Scout

Our little family of three grew into a family of four pretty suddenly. David and I had been discussing the possibility of getting another dog, but it was only chatter. It was really important to David and me that we rescue or adopt a dog in need of a good home. Then, out of the blue, a couple days ago my mom's friend knew someone {a registered breeder} who was wanting to find homes for her dogs she used to breed.

We called the lady and she said she'd call us this weekend to come and see them. I totally thought she wasn't going to call and even after she did call, I totally thought we'd pass on getting one of her dogs.

But, when we went to see them, one of them jumped out at us. She was spunky, sweet, and just a month older than Niko Harper.

We've got a lot of love waiting for her and need to make sure she's ok tomorrow at the vet. While the lady was nice, the doggie just wasn't receiving the proper care she needed there. David and I are hoping Niko adjusts soon and that we can all become one big happy family.

So, without further ado, here's your first look at little Scout. Her name's inspiration comes from the great book, "To Kill a Mockingbird." She's not too sure of us yet, but we're hoping she warms up to us soon.

And, we're hoping her hair grows out fast, because she is going to be one cutie-patootie little furball : ) .

xoxo
