#37 Weeks Pregnant with Jord Wood Watches

After spotting my friends, Jesse, Kacia and Erika all sporting Jord wood watches I was humbled to receive an email offering me one as well! 

It is most definitely the most unique piece of jewelry I own. I chose the Koa & Rose Gold Cora series because I'm still smitten with rose gold. I would imagine most of us are, am I right? But even if you're not, they have tons of choices to suit your fancy that even include men's watches, too. I really fell in love with the maple options as well. It's different for me to be drawn to lighter wood tones but I'm going with it!

My watch came packaged in a sweet wooden box [very appropriate!] and I had the opportunity to send in my wrist measurements ahead of time so that it was the perfect fit.  An extra bonus is that the company is stationed just across the river from me so supporting a local business was a no-brainer!

I always have loved wearing watches and now adding this one to my collection gives me options to keep my outfits looking fresh. 

Heck, it may even draw your eye away from that 9 month pregnant belly I'm sporting as well! 

I'm nearing the end of my 37th week and feeling pretty good. I'm hoping to make it to 40 weeks with baby #2!

My name is Joi and I blog here at Nuestra Vida Dulce about all of our DIY adventures and my little family. My husband and I are both high school teachers and we have a two year old little spunky monkey named Theron. He definitely keeps David and me on our toes at all times.

It's more fun than I would've ever imagined and I get a kick out of seeing him in all of his little outfits! I am a big fan of mixing prints and try to add in as many layers as I can, as long as he's still comfortable!

Wal-Mart Jeggings

I don't know if you are even still with me with that blog title. I know those words can be scary for many of us!

I'm not a huge Wal-Mart fan nor am I a jeggings lover, but put the two together and you have magic! I swear. I was casually looking for some athletic shorts the other day{I know, shocker, right?} in Wal-Mart and I happened to brush by a sale rack of jeggings. Something made me check them out and I really don't know why. In case you haven't noticed, I'm clearly not a size 2 and thus I'm not jeggings' #1 fan. However these looked and felt different and the $5 pricetag was practically begging for me to buy a pair. I'm a sucker for a good deal.

I thought, "What's the harm?" and added them to my purchases. When I got home I tried them on and much to my shock and surprise, I actually liked them. And not just a little, but A LOT! It seems as if I'm not alone because if you look closely in the screen capture, the jeggings are rocking a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.

They are extremely comfy and I purchased them in a dark wash so they're semi-flattering. I also made sure that I didn't get them in a size that is soo super tight that I look like I can't breathe. You're welcome for that image.

I posted an unintentional weird angled camera phone image of me the other day at the Mint Julep Jaunt and I was sporting the jeggings {I promise I wasn't trying to be "artsy"--haha!}. It's blurry, but you can kind of get a sense for the jeggings. My favorite part, that you can't see in this pic, is the pocket detailing and faux zipper.

Way to go Wal-Mart. I'll probably take another pair....or two.

Fun Finds: TJ Maxx/Marshall's Style

The other day I got to shop for a few hours all by myself. That hardly ever happens and it was quite a nice little shift from the usual! I got to try on all the clothes I wanted and actually looked with a purpose at the clothing section of TJ Maxx and Marshall's.

Most times it is too overwhelming for me and I skip it all together so that the person {most likely David ; )} who I am with doesn't get even more bored--haha.

I did pick up a couple of cute items for summer and managed to save some pennies while I was at it!

I got this little sheer tank and fun sun dress for less than thirty bucks! I really like the cut of the sundress because it is super flattering. There were more colors and I almost added those to my basket but I exhibited some self control. It does happen from time to time.

I was super happy to pick up these square toed leopard print flats by Jessica Simpson.

My leopard obsession is still going strong and these are sure to make all of my outfits just a little more fun! And, since Scoutie Bear loves chewing on my current pair of leopard flats it was definitely time for a replacement. It's funny because she doesn't bother any of my other shoes so Dave and I joke that she must be a fan of leopard prints, too! Plus, the square toe makes me feel like I'm wearing pointe shoes....I never did get that far in ballet. Sorry, mom!

The thank you cards had me at hello with their vintage vibe floral print and for $1.99 I couldn't pass them up!

Apartment Therapy Design Evening {Pics}

I told you guys about the Apartment Therapy Design Evening I was able to participate in a couple of days ago. It was a lovely evening and I enjoyed getting to meet such inspiring people!

I don't exactly remember how I got asked to be a presenter but I'm happy I was because it was a lot of fun! Of course, David was a sweetheart and came along for the ride. I know I've told you all a time or two that he's the greatest. I stand by my word.

I had him snap a pic of my outfit because I am in love with this dress! Please don't mind the puppy toy, laptop bag, binders, and Scoutie Bear in the background. I obviously didn't take too much time to clean up--whoops!

I first spotted it on Bryn's blog {I tried to find her original post where she talked about it, but I can't...weird!} and went straight to Target to pick it up. It was in the Juniors' section and I was unsure of its length and fit, but it actually fits perfectly! I strongly suggest picking one up for yourself; they even come in more colors.

Once we had our wardrobe pic out of the way, we headed out to The Map Room in St. Louis.

This little cafe was beyond cute. I joked earlier in the day to David that this place would be full of maps when he asked what it was, and turns out, I wasn't too far off.

The inside was totally swanky and fun {and full of maps!} and the outside was a garden patio like what you'd see in a European movie. It was quite lovely.

Before we started the evening I casually ordered some iced tea to cool me off. When the lady proclaimed that they only had cinnamon tea I was kinda bummed. While I adore tea, I'm really not a fan of flavored teas.

I decided to give it a whirl anyway because it was blazing hot and boy am I ELATED {yes, it deserves all caps} that I did. It was the best thing I have ever tasted. I marched myself right back inside and asked the owner what brand it was and she said it was plain black tea brewed with two cinnamon sticks. Score! Something I could possibly recreate at home. Throughout the evening I had two carafes of that heavenly tea all by myself. It was just so darn delicious. Addicted much? Oh yeah. We even stopped on the way home to buy cinnamon sticks. Thanks, David. : )

When the evening got started, Jenny {in the boots} of Perennial gave her talk about transforming discarded goods into products people can love and keep! Go green, baby. I could take a lot of pointers from her. She was fabulously sweet, intelligent, and kind! It was wonderful to meet her.

Next up Amanda of Sprouted Designs, gave her presentation on her popular homemade designs and successful Etsy business. She was delightful just like Jenny! I am so glad to have met her!

I rounded out the evening's presentations by highlighting my design style and craigslisting adventures. I hope to stay involved with these evenings and look forward to the next get together soon. I hope some of you St. Louis people will consider coming out for the fun!

Thrift Store Fridays

So last week I scored a vintage cane ottoman/footstool during my Friday thrifting outing. I absolutely adore it's shape and materials and I think I'm going to use it as a plant stand. The picture you see below is not it, {I haven't actually taken a pic of mine yet...}, but it is pretty similar. You can find it here.

Oh, and I placed an order for this little cutie of a shirt this week and can't wait to get it. Thanks, Terri, for blogging about it. I think it is begging me to wear it to a holiday party, don't ya think?

Fun Find: Platform Pumps

So yesterday one of my sweet senior students brought me a magazine that she and her mom received in the mail. It's in Spanish and they have no idea why they get it.

Funny, right? It's such a sweet gesture that they thought of me and brought it in for me to have. I love that. : ) Randomly I was flipping through it and a pair of shoes caught my eye on this page!

The colors are outstanding and the price had me googling them right then and there to see if they still had my size. Annnnd, jackpot. They did! I came home, went straight to Newport News and added those bad boys to my cart. For $21 how could I not?

I am super excited to receive them in the mail and promise to take some pics!

Oh, and an update of my fabulous yellow pumps that I blogged about here....they came, I loved them, but they hurt like a mother! So, sadly, they are going back. I can't justify spending that much money on something that hurt my feet and toes the absolute first minute I had them on.

And while some kind readers pointed me in the right direction to the real Genevieve Gorder shoes, my wallet just can't handle that kind of damage!

Every year on the first day of school my mom used to take my picture. I think this is a ritual for most children and I have continued the tradition through my teaching years, too.

It's Here {My DB Bag!}

Some people have requested pics so of course I obliged! Here's my new D & B bag that was shipped to me from Kentucky.

It's roomy and soft and I ♥ it. David refers to it as my hockey bag since it's a tad on the large side, but that doesn't phase me. : )

Oh, and I was really digging the way my makeup turned out today in the process of all of the purse snapping pics. I just love the MAC Snob lipstick!! Hope you don't find it too vain. Aw, heck-who am I kidding? I guess the whole idea of a blog is vain in some respects!

I hope you all enjoy your holiday this weekend with some fun, food, family and friends! We're headed to a family reunion this Sunday and some of my best girlfriends and I are seeing SATC 2 on Monday.

Handbag Envy

The other day one of my cute fashionable students walked into my class with a fabulous bag. I immediately went over to her desk to check it out and ask a bazillion questions about it. I loved its shape, size, color, and everything else about it! It was a beautiful creamy white leather bag with wrist handles and a canvas shoulder strap. I was pleasantly surprised when she said it was a Dooney and Bourke purse. I have never owned a Dooney and Bourke purse but always wanted one when I was a little girl.

In recent years I was never impressed with their line which seemed to be geared toward young middle school or high school girls. You remember their styles with the multi-colored hearts &/stars and monogrammed "DB" bags, don't you? Not really my thing.

Well the bag I like is a throw back to the bags I always wanted years ago. It's a simple classic leather bag with a little duck on the tag. The duck definitely reminds me of the D&B bags my Maw Maw used to carry when I was a kiddo.

I commented to my student that she looked like she belonged in The Hamptons! : )

Well, I tried unsuccessfully to get the perfect bag's image out of my head but it didn't work. I found it on their website but really didn't want to pay over $250 for it, especially since my student scored it for $100 cheaper!

So last night David and I decided to make a trip to the mall to scoop one up, but of course, they were sold out. Much to my dismay so was every Macy's in the St. Louis region. But, the sweet saleslady called around to other out-of-state Macy's and one in Kentucky had one left and it was mine! They let me have it for the sale price and they're shipping it to my home! I'm very excited for its arrival!!

Big Lots Bargain Buy

So I've wanted this $80 Fossil watch for a long time now {we're talking months, peeps}.

I love the white color for summertime and the sparkle is pretty sweet, too. One of my friends in my master's class had it and it made me want it even more. I put off buying it like I do most things in hopes of finding something cheaper.

Well today as I was standing in line at Big Lots waiting to buy some lights and an icepack {exciting, I know} some fun look-a-like watches caught my eye. At first I saw pink, then blue, and when I looked around the display I spotted white! The band is rubber and I'm excited because that's actually what I wanted!

And, even better...the price was a cool $8 bucks! I swooped that baby up so fast and sported it all night. Now I'm more than aware that it'll probably get a little dirty and it's obviously not an exact replica, but I love it! With my ever-changing tastes this under $10 accessory is just my style.

Fashion Friday-May Carousel

I don't post many fashion posts because my fashion sense is pretty basic and features a lot of black. But, the other night when I worked my high school's May Carousel event {an evening that honors the senior girls}, I thought my little Kohl's dress looked pretty darn cute.

I bought it last year, and have since a lost a little bit of weight, so it looked a bit droopy. I added a belt and I loved it 10 times more than when I bought it last year!

Oh, and I'm super excited to see wedges making a comeback because the ones pictured here are a pair of my most favorite cheapie wedges from Target. They're comfortable and I'd like to thank them for making my legs appear longer than they actually are! : )

Prom {Chaperone} Fashion

I wanted something new for Prom this past weekend and I found a great little dress from the Elle line at Kohl's. I was unsure about it at first but I think I really like it now seeing it in pictures. I'm super excited that my hair looks like it's getting past the awkward stage in this pic, too!

Too Cheap For The Real Deal

I can't afford these absolutely gorgeous nude patent Louboutin heels pictured below because you know I'm only working with two teacher's salaries here ; ).

But I did afford a great inspired pair found here. If you decide to go with these you might want to order a size down.

I usually wear an 8.5 or 9 and I ordered an 8.5. They're a tad big, but I'll make them work. I think the 8 would have been ideal. They've got a hidden platform which you all know makes our feet just a smidge happier when we wear heels.

I'll be sure to take a pic of them on me when I wear them first. : )

Fashion Friday-Zoo Style

1. I am so excited because my hair actually is long enough to go in a pony tail!
2. I love yet another pair of a.n.a jeans from JCPenney. This pair has a little distressing in them and are actual jeans and not jeggings. : ) {You cannot beat their price and fit in my opinion!}
3. My ruffle cardigan {that needed a quick iron--oops!} was a steal at under $10 on the Sear's clearance rack!

Obviously I Suck At Self Portraits

But, here ya go anyway! I decided right before leaving for school last Friday that I'd just snap a real quick photo. Hmmm, looks like I need more practice. Blurry and sideways aren't quite working for me!

Anyhoo, here are two of my fun Old Navy scores that I love. The yellow ruffle shirt is a very odd choice for me because I think I've only worn yellow way back in grade school days. I love the boyfriend cardigan because it's a jersey material and it's so soft.

My jeans, while they weren't an Old Navy find, are ah-ma-zing. They're actually denim leggings meant to look like jeans and they really do! I found them at JC Penney and I adore them. They get really high remarks from other buys as well. You will love their price and fit-promise. At $22---who wouldn't?!?
