We Conquered Vegas

The ladies of my family, three generations of women, tackled the hot, hot, H-O-T city of Las Vegas.

I feel like I sweated off about 10 pounds with the heat combined with the miles and miles of walking.

I had a fabulous time with my mom and maw maw and we saw SO much. I don't know if I'd ever return; I'm not a big gambler nor do I drink and well those two activities are sort of the main thing. Las Vegas is completely intriguing and impressive and I think once was enough to last my lifetime.

We booked our flight, car, and hotel through Southwest vacations and everything went smoothly. We stayed at the centrally located Mirage Hotel and it was so busy. {I took about 100 or so pics with my cell phone but my mom captured better ones with her DSLR...when she uploads them I will be sure to share!}

Out of all of the hotels we visited I seriously think ours had the most amount of people milling about.

I fell in love with the volcano show at night, visited the frozen yogurt shop located inside twice, and enjoyed dolphin habitat as well.

We did rent a car and used it two days. The other days we walked {A LOT}, took taxis, and the monorail. I would suggest taking a taxi whenever possible. Hotels look so close but really they are miles away. I was sort of prepared to walk a little but not nearly as much as we did. Thankfully I wore comfortable shoes and managed to keep my feet in shape.

On the days when we used the car we visited Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon. Both places were a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Vegas.

A couple of things that I particularly loved were the Bellagio Fountains {oh my word--they are stunning!}, taking a gondola ride, going up the Eiffel Tower and eating at Serendipity 3 and indulging in their famous frrrozen hot chocolate.

We shopped a lot {I'll share my loot in a separate post} and visited lots of the hotel casinos. They are so much bigger than I ever imagined. I don't know why I thought they'd be smaller but I did. I was shocked at how expansive everything was!

It was such a nice girls' trip and I loved getting to spend a solid 6 days with my girls!

I am the same as you, not a gambler or a big drinker, but when we go (the mister loves it) I am always amazed people watching! And just everything going on around me ;)

Joi, what kind of shoes did you wear? They look cute! I'm worried my sandals won't hold up and I'm not a huge fan of wearing my tennis shoes 24/7. How much is an average taxi ride?
Thanks!!

You really did go from one end of the strip to the other...impressive because yes, those casinos are not that close to one another. Glad you had a great time!

Looks like you had a great time! We don't gamble or go "clubbing" either, so people were surprised we wanted to go to Vegas, but is there any better people watching anywhere? I don't think so...

I'm like you- I'm not a big gambler and we don't drink, but I still crave Vegas. =) One thing that's nice is that when you have kids, it's hard to get away on vacation and going to Vegas good place to go for 2 days.
The Bellagio fountains are so breathtaking, I agree! On one of my trips to Vegas we drove through the Hoover Dam, and also stopped at the Grand Canyon. Glad you had fun! Can't wait to see what little shopping goodies you found.
