Summer Water Fun

Theron's never really been swimming; you can't really count the time he walked around in a hotel hot tub as a swimming outing! He took part in swim lessons two summers ago and wasn't the biggest fan and also only semi-enjoyed the splash pad we took him to last year.

However, his school puts on a water day every Wednesday during the summer and I think our kiddo may have had a change of heart.

Since his tastes and 'tude have seemed to change, I decided to break out his water table and baby pool this weekend. Much like I thought, the kid loved it and I was thrilled! I love to be outside if only to be by water so this new discovery means great things for this summer!

I thought Theron may be hesitant to get into the pool because it was so cold but he didn't care in the slightest!

Dave's always the good sport!

Baby in my belly and my first baby holding my hand. Nothing better.

It took awhile for T to figure out the hose, but once he did, look out!

I'm hoping to make lots of trips to the splash pad this summer now!

Beginning of Summer Fun

Oddly enough, Theron's, David's and my summer break all started on the same day! We have a glorious 2 1/2 month vacation to spend doing whatever our hearts desire! It's seriously one of the greatest feelings in the world.

We kicked off our summer by hitting up a carnival and stopping by an ice rink!

Theron absolutely loved riding the rides at the carnival -- a much improved attitude from a year prior. His favorite ride was the tractors [naturally] because they went the fastest. Oh, my little speed racer.

I love how he leans into the turn. I'm pretty sure he thought he was in charge. No change there.

He loved the choo choo train, too. But that thing went at a snail's pace so there were no double/triple rides to be had.

He's pretty obsessed with motorcycles, or "mo-co-cos" in Theron Drake speak, so this ride was an obvious favorite...still not fast enough for our little guy, though.

His last ride was this flying turtle and he almost got kicked off for putting his legs over the edge. Only my son!

I would've enjoyed a ferris wheel ride, but a quick pic in front of it was all that was tolerated. Always next time--in a few weeks!

I'm so glad we decided to make this trip and I'll never forget the joy my little guy felt that day! Seeing your kiddo so excited is, I'm positive, the best thing in the world!

We also are so lucky that we have VIP access to a local ice rink because my father-in-law works there.

Theron wasn't too keen on the idea of lacing up but he did allow his father [former hockey player] to take him for a spin around the rink. He loved playing in the rink and watching his Daddy and Auntie [former figure skater] have some fun.

Here's to more adventures!

California Recap: Part One

We headed out to Cali two weeks ago to share in the joy of my sister-in-law's wedding to my new brother-in-law, Tim. We stayed out there for 6 days and made it into a real vacation instead of just a wedding trip! We flew into San Diego and stayed in La Jolla the whole time. I did a lot of research before booking our accommodations and finally decided upon The Empress. At the time it was rated #1 in La Jolla on Tripadvisor.com {now it's rated #2--still good in my book!}. I was afraid it was going to be one of those "too good to be true" hotels, but it was just as promised! The staff was friendly and very helpful. If you're ever in that area, I highly recommend it!

The first day we shopped {and bought my LV}, went to Old Town for lunch, and walked around the gorgeous Balboa Park.

When we got back to La Jolla we took a stroll around the area and to the wedding bowl {a small wedding was taking place, too} where Em and Tim would be married later in the week!

Farmer's Market Stroll

Who knew that coming home from Spain would make me such a homebody? I love being out and about and feeling productive and thus far I've done little to warrant actually leaving the house! I guess I can kind of blame it on jet lag, but not really. I mean, geez, I've been home for almost 2 weeks now and school is about to start in a little over 3 weeks! Some people would say summer's are for sleeping in and being lazy and I guess I have fulfilled that definition to the nth degree. Guess we gotta start living it up before reality comes a-knockin'.

David and I did manage to get out the other night and head to our town's farmer's market. We live in your typical farm-town suburbia and we love it! This year our city decided to host an outdoor market every Thursday with food booths, crafts, demonstrations, and music just minutes from our home. This close proximity=a nice little walk for the both of us. : )

We've only made it once because on the other Thursdays I have been out of town. I was lucky enough to score some ginormous tomatoes and blackberries! Two of my absolute favorites, might I add. The tomatoes were tasty, not the best I've had, but I'm no girl to say "no" to a summertime, bright red, homegrown tomato. I bought 10 and I managed to eat 8 before the other two went bad. David's not a fan, but I like to eat them cut up and with a little bit of salt sprinkled on them---pure bliss, I tell you!

Armed with my camera, I was able to snap a couple pics of the some pretty shots on the way to and from.

I might've taken more if my feet hadn't felt like they were going to fall off. You see, I was trying to be cute, and wear my new Spain sandals, and let's just say these shoes weren't made for long walks. I managed to come home with three blisters on the bottom of my feet-major ouch and a first for this girl! I guess that was a lesson learned and you bet I heard an "I told you so" from my sweet no-fashion loving husband. He is almost always right when it comes to my footwear choices...heck, he's almost always right, period. And that my friends, is #89484y7339 why I loved that man so much {even if I don't always take his fashion advice}.

You say tomato, I say tomahto

Whichever way you say it, I loooooove it! I cannot get enough of home grown tomatoes in the summertime {topped with a little bit of salt}.

Here's a look at my dinner last night! Not pictured are my cream cheese and chive wheat thins--mmm, mmm good!
