New Locks

Isn't Instagram the best? I mean, I absolutely love it! I love having a place for all my photos and sharing our sweet family moments with friends and family plus seeing all of my loved ones' moments make me happy, too! I also L-O-V-E the explore tab because I'm always finding beautiful new people to follow, outfits I don't need, and most recently a hair stylist that I just HAD to have color and cut my hair!

I contacted Emily at The Hair Lab in St. Louis after admiring her work and was so sad to find out she wasn't taking on new clients until the new year. Bummer. But luckily, she had a cancellation and since I'm on maternity leave I was able to make it work.

David watched both boys, Theron had a fever and cough, and I got to get a couple hours of pampering! I was so worried Townes would cry a lot or refuse to take a bottle but David had it all under control the whole time. I'm telling you, I was a worrier before kids but I have real anxiety after them. My heart races and I get so nervous, something I'm working on letting go. No-one does well with that sort of stress!

Anyhow, Emily worked her magic and was the absolute sweetest. She explained everything she was doing and understood how I did not want my hair to be orange. Because of Instagram I was able to not only find her but view her portfolio and that makes ALL the difference. Going off of word of mouth or people's recommendations sometimes just doesn't work for me. I need to see with my own two eyes what people produce.

I absolutely love what she did and can't wait to go back in December! If you're in the St. Louis area I urge you to check her out!

Ask And You Shall Receive

Hmmm, what would that be? A side french braid tutorial video! Just what you wanted, right? Don't answer that. ; )

Now, it's in two parts and I wish it was a little shorter but what are you gonna do? If you really only want to see the actual braid skip to part 2. If you want to see how I style my hair from start to finish then start with part 1. Please be a dear and take it easy on me because it was my first {and quite possibly my only} video. : )

I hope they help someone out there! Happy braiding!

As always, I try to answer all of your questions in the comments, on formspring, or via email at NuestraVidaDulce@gmail.com.

Battle Of The Bangs

I've had bangs almost my whole life. In fact, I was rocking bangs all throughout highschool when all my friends, wait-scratch that, all the school had grown theirs out after gradeschool. I for sure didn't get that memo and my friends gave me a card when I grew my bangs out in college-no joke! There actually was a Hallmark card that said, "Congrats! You finally grew out your bangs!" and you can bet I still have it to this day.

Then there was a very short time in college where I had long hair and no bangs but of course that didn't last long--I quickly got side swept bangs, which I loved. Now I still enjoy my bangs from time to time but I'm graced with very fine hair so those side swept suckers are so quick to get greasy. So while I used to hate the look on me, I've been pulling my bangs back recently and trying to like it.

I think I can finally say they look alright. I've got to make a decision because they are definitely in that limbo stage where they're too long...but I can't decide between growing them out or cutting them!

I guess time will tell! : ) I do know that I really want to do that cute little Lauren Conrad side braid for Em's wedding but I gotta get used to me with absolutely no bangs first. Isn't Jessica Alba so darn cute here with her no bangs braid?

Yeah, my hair's not going to look that good, but it is my inspiration for the wedding!

My CHI Died

...it bit the dust over a month ago. I am just now getting around to buying a new straightener and I picked a great time! I can only imagine how funky my hair has been looking. I've been using the Wal Mart flat iron that I purchased back in highschool...can you believe it still works???

Anyhoo, I finally decided to bite the bullet and made my purchase on folica.com. Head on over yourself and enter "SOLIA75" for a free mini flat iron+free shipping with a $75 purchase. Hurry though, because this offer ends on Thursday of this week!

My new Solia iron should be here this week and I'm hoping it is just as good as my CHI used to be.

Pictures as promised!

Here are some pictures of my new do! One is from last night before heading out to chaperone my school's prom and one is from today. I was just playing around with our cheapie knock-off version of photoshop, so that's why the 2nd one is in B&W!

I got my hair cut!

And it's the shortest it's ever been in my life! (Don't have a heart attack, mom!) I love it and I also got some hi-lights put in it for the upcoming summertime! I promise to upload some pics later today :-)

I got 5 inches cut off!

Don't freak mom, it will grow back. Here's a pic of my new do. Sorry for cutting the top of my head off and for the extreme close-up...I'll take another later on :-)

Haircut dilemma!

I have a haircut appointment on Monday-no big deal, right? I was planning on getting the usual...an inch or so trimmed and a touch up on my all over dark brown color. Easy-peasy! Well, I've been wanting to grow my hair out for awhile now and it's getting sooooo long-- almost mid-back range! Woo- hoo for me! Buuuuut, and this is a big but (hehe), I have seen so many darling short haircuts lately that have been distracting my plans. I am now confused at the style I want. I thought I wanted long hair, but then again, my hair is so fine that it tends to look stringy when it grows out. But, I'm also afraid of losing all my hair and hating it when/if I decide to take the plunge and cut it--yikes! *Side note, Mom, I know if you're reading this you're on the verge of a heart attack so please take a sec to breathe ;-). * Here are some pics that I have been looking at. Now I know that I don't look even a fraction like these celebrities, but their hair is to die for! Ahhhh--what's a girl to do?!??!

I've loved this hairstyle for years--this is when she was still with Nick!
I don't think I could ever pull this off-but it is fabulous!
Very cute--My style of bangs!Hair that I thought I wanted--until a few days ago!
