What's Good In Your Hood {Detroit}

iFeliz miƩrcoles! It's time to find the goodies lurking about on Detroit's craigslist. A reader specified some club chairs, so let's hope something comes up. But, as you know, I always like to search for fun furniture bargains as well. : )

{They look in tip top shape, but you could always reupholster if the color doesn't suit you!}

$60 Brass Coffee Table

$60 {2} Cream Tufted Chairs

$60 Dresser and Side Table

$19 Chair

$50 {2} Pink Chairs
{It's unclear if the price is for one or both, but these chairs are FAB!}

Hopefully you found something that you liked! If you want me to search your craigslist just send an email to Nuestravidadulce@gmail.com and I'll be sure to add your city to the list.

Happy almost 2010!!!

The Stockings Were Hung

So Christmas is over and the stockings are down, but I still wanted to share the image with all of you. I scored some very fun $1 stockings from the Dollar Tree this year and they were quite the fun little bargain!

All white with a little bling=perfection!

I loved Christmas, but I'm sorta glad it's over. Our decorations came down a little earlier than I planned, but I didn't want to be stressed getting the house back to normal so close to school restarting! After all, I will be student teacherless come January! : )

Side note: I'm super excited to share a new project with you guys soon! I scored a fabulous piece of furniture at the Goodwill and can't wait to put it in the office. Pics coming soon!

I'm Just Shocked To Be Nominated!

And, no...I didn't nominate myself, mom! : ) Some sweet soul out there nominated me for the prestigious "The Homies" awards going on over at Apartment Therapy.

And while I'm rocking a strong 2 votes {1 of them being my own...don't laugh}, I'm just pleased as a peach to be nominated. Really, I am!

And, trust me, this isn't a ploy for you to vote for me... I really just wanted to brag a little. : ) I live in the real world and know that little Nuestra Vida Dulce isn't bringing in the big bucks. Heck, I only even found out I was nominated after I followed my sitemeter's referral links. You can bet I would've never dreamed to see this little ol' blog on there, so searching for it was not on the to-do list!

Anyhoo, good luck to the numerous deserving blogs out there! I can't wait to see who wins.

Merry almost Christmas Eve, everyone.

What's Good In Your Hood {San Antonio}

Hey peeps. It's Wednesday and you know the drill. We're searching San Antonio's Craigslist this week and hoping to find some great stuff!

Let's get to it! : )

{It includes a mirror that I would maybe use somewhere else}

{And I actually kind of like the fabric!}

{I'd probably offer less}

There's still many more cities in the lineup, but if you want me to search your craigslist, just drop me an email to Nuestravidadulce@gmail.com and I'll add it to the list. I'm definitely a bargain hunter, but if you have something more specific in mind, i'd be happy to keep an eye out for that type of search as well.

Thanks, loves. It's almost Christmastime...are you ready?! : )

Handbag Wish

I saw this handbag here and I just about fell over. I'm totally smitten!

{compliments of What I Wore}

It's lovely. And it comes in a gorgeous teal and gray. I am in love. Thank you, Jessica.

Now, if I could only scrape up $700 bucks then there wouldn't be a problem. Ha. A girl can dream, right?

Snowflake Garland

This little project took me back to my elementary years and trying to cut out the perfect snowflake. Back then I never got it and I'm pretty sure I still missed out now. But, thanks to today's Design*Sponge I was inspired to finally do something with $1.99 doilies I bought at Garden Ridge awhile back. Because they're doilies they make your snowflakes look even better-score. : )

The project was really easy; if you can cut, you can do this. To hang them I just strung them on some fishing wire and tied them to the curtain rod.

I had taken a lot of pictures of the set-up and during of this little project but suddenly my camera informed me that my SD card needed to be formatted. Yeah, so when you format a card in the middle of already having pictures on it, you lose them. : ( And, even after I tried to format it like it asked, it said "bad card". Poo. Luckily I didn't lose anything important, but you guys will just have to use your imagination for the before and during pics.

Happy Thursday, peeps. Don't forget to enter the sunburst mirror giveaway! : )

What's Good In Your Hood {San Diego}

It's Wednesday, so you know what that means...time to crash another city's craigslist. The lucky winner this week is good ol' San Diego, California. Oh how I'd love to call you my home. I will get lucky this summer though because my sweet little sister-in-law has decided to tie the knot in lovely La Jolla!

Let's get to the finding the diamonds in the rough, shall we?

{I really think this is great! I'd definitely paint it though.}

{Not necessarily a bargain find, but gorgeous!}

{Another pricey yet beautiful piece}

{Love the design! I'd repaint and use as a plant stand!}

{It would make a fab entryway table or buffet. I ♥ it!}

If you see something that tickles your fancy, don't procrastinate because things can go fast. And, of course, if you want me to search your craigslist, I'd be delighted! Just drop me an email at Nuestravidadulce@gmail.com and I'll add it to the list of requests.

Happy Hump Day, bloggers! : )

Pencils of Promise

Awhile ago the lovely Paloma approached some bloggers to take a time out to bring attention to the organization: "Pencils of Promise." And, being a teacher, I jumped right on board.

This organization basically makes it their goal to support education and build schools where education might not otherwise be possible, bringing hope and empowerment to some of the most impoverished places imaginable. Below, their video says it best.

Stop on by their website and then spread the word. Or better yet, make a donation. Your generosity will go directly to the construction of dormitories for Laotian girls, which will allow them a safe place to stay so that they may attend their only chance at school. 'Tis the season after all. : )

Pet Picture

I love photo Christmas cards. You'd never know it, cause I never send 'em, but I really love them! Every year I have intentions of doing some of our own, but it just never happens. This year has crept up on me as well and looks like we won't be getting photo cards out anytime soon. But, I still wanted to pose little Scout and Niko for a brother and sister pic, just in case.

I thought it'd be easy. Um, yeah, not so much. We started off like this...blurry seemed to be the theme.

Then some barking ensued...

And finally they said, "Peace out, Mom!"

I gave in and settled for some solo pictures of my two cutie patootie pooches. Niko was definitely the easier of the two, and the most photogenic, but he's been used to having a million pictures taken of him since his birth.

He, no joke, has the folder with the most images on our computer. Ha. : ) I can"t wait to see how I am with a human baby someday!

Scouty, on the other hand, has no idea what to think of getting her picture taken. She finally gave in a little, but insisted on laying down. She is quite the diva and the boss around these parts.

Someday I'll get a cute picture featuring both of my doggies. Someday...: )

I Guess I Know What I'll Be Doing This Weekend

I spied this wonderful felt wreath tutorial via the craft boards on nest.com and I so want to make one of my own. And, I think I will. Only question is...will it be pink or white? I guess time will tell! ; )

Brilliant, festive, and modern don't ya think? I'm in love. Here's to it not involving a hot glue gun!!! Woo hoo!

What's Good In Your Hood {Tucson}

Wow.wow.wow! After Michelle did the sweetest post about our little ol' blog we got some major traffic! Thanks so much for your humbling post, Michelle. You are quite the inspiration yourself!

The even better news is that many people have a"What's Good in Your Hood" request and I'm happy to get to them. First up is the lovely city of Tucson, Arizona. Let's see what the lovely little southwest can offer us.

{I'd love to paint it and line the grated opening with some fun fabric!}

{I'd offer less}

{I'd offer less as it's been listed for almost a month!}

{Would look great with some traditional chairs! I ♥ eclectic}

As always, feel free to email me at Nuestravidadulce@gmail.com with your city request and I'd be happy to search your craigslist for some fun finds and good bargains! Need something specific? I'd be tickled to look for that as well.

Happy Hump day and stay warm! We're battling low temps today in the midwest. Boo.

The Best Way To Spread Christmas Cheer...

Oh, how I love Elf. I'm not a fan of movies and Christmas movies aren't the exception. However, however, I do love me some Elf. I laugh out loud and cry like a baby at the end. It's delightful all the way around.

Our home is all decked out and looking rather Christmas-y this time of year. Not overkill, but just enough to make me smile. I even thought about keeping the tree up longer this year because it makes me just that happy.

Enjoy, friends. : )

I found the large glitter snowflakes at Dollar Tree this year. What a cheap and chic purchase! All I did to hang them was tie a little bit of clear fishing line and I was set!

I made the ribbon trees last year after seeing some fabulous inspiration ones in the Coach store.

I think our tree could use some more ornaments, so I'm definitely ready for those after Christmas sales!

I'd love to see all of your decorations, too. Point me in the right direction and I'll stop by.

xoxo
