While the Mr. and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day, I don't shy away from celebrating with my sweet students.
On Monday, my angel baby seniors {Yes, I really do call them that. I like weird nicknames. It's alright to snicker} will be receiving some Spanish conversation hearts and will most likely be reading one/some of Neruda's love sonnets. Classic and sweet.
I found this one via my buddy, pinterest. It's in English and oh-so-lovey-dovey.
My kiddos, however, will get the version in espaƱol. They can handle it; I'm sure. : )
p.s. We're supposed to see the likes of 50 degrees in the next couple of days. Can I get an amen?! Now that's what a weekend is supposed to be like. Mmmhmm!

i've read everything by Neruda
What a beautiful poem! I may have to share the Spanish version with my hubby this weekend (he was a Spanish major in college) just to keep him on his toes :)
Have a great weekend!
Nice! We actually had this read at our wedding ceremony! And I agree, we don't really celebrate V-Day--usually just cook dinner and maybe give small little gifts. But nothing extravagant!
Very pretty!! The Mr & I don't get all into V-day either, I did however request a my favorite tea from Starbucks :)
In high school, in the weeks before Valentine's Day, the 3rd-year Spanish classes would write piropos to attach to carnations and sell them for $1 (the proceeds went to a charity voted on by the class). They were delivered during the school day with great flourish - guitar-playing and singing and a recitation of the piropo. A total disruption for every class the entire day, but everybody always loved it!
i love this~ and woot woot for some nice weekend weather! enjoy!
Pablo Neruda is my absolute favorite poet - thanks to my dad. We actually danced to his poem "Me Gustas Cuando Callas" by Brazilian Girls at my wedding for our father/daughter dance.
My favorite Neruda poem!
