Exciting News!!!
UPDATE: Here's the link to vote {I'm finalist #1} and I'd love your support. You guys rock! If I could give you all a great big hug I would!
¡¡¡Muchas Gracias!!!
¡¡¡Muchas Gracias!!!
Hey guys! You may or may not have noticed my little teaser about some news I had to share with you at the end of Monday's post. It's not a huge deal, but I am super excited about it.
Awhile back I entered the Selby contest via CB2 but didn't really put much effort into getting votes. I mentioned it once here and on my facebook. I received more votes than I had anticipated but I didn't move on to the next round. It was not a big deal, I entered on a whim, just for fun! I mean, it was a national contest, my head wasn't in the clouds.
But, when I mentioned the CB2 contest on my blog, a sweet & local blog reader {Thanks, Sprinkles of Joy and Laughter} said I should enter the St. Louis magazine's version of a similar contest called "Living Space of the Year."
With nothing to lose, I uploaded 3 pics of our humble living room, wrote a little blurb about why our space deserved the win, and tried not to think about actually winning. Haha, yeah right. ; )
Then, out of the blue one day last week, I got a call stating I had made it to the top 5! Woooo---to the--hoo! On to the next one as Jay Z would say...
The next round consisted of three of the sweetest ladies {who were also judges} coming to our home last Friday and taking the grand tour! They asked me questions about my design style, from where I drew inspiration, thrifty tricks and my DIY projects, and many more topics! I probably blabbed their ears off about my passion for making our spaces reflect our personalities.
Then, yesterday, I got another call stating that I made it to the top 3 {EEEK!} and that my home would be on Stlmag.com for viewing and voting opportunities until October 15th!
The home with the most votes will win:
a} $500 to Phillip's Furniture
b} $500 to Woodard Cleaning & Restoration Company
c} 3 Year Subscription to St. Louis Magazine
Annnnnnnnd, this is the one I am about to pee my pants over, for reals folks....
d} A professional photographer will come to the winner's home and that space will be featured in the December issue of St. Louis Magazine!!!!
As you can probably imagine, I'm a giddy fool! The voting site wasn't up as of last night {otherwise that bad boy would've been linked!}, but as soon as it is I will direct your little voting fingers to it.
Naturally I would love, love, love your vote {if that's what you choose to do}! Thanks for all the support and comments you guys send my way everyday. Blogging and decorating have become a very real and integral part of my life that I ♥ so much!!!

What's Good In Your Hood {Savannah}
Hey Hey! It's Wednesday and we're headed to Savannah Georgia for our craiglist sleuthing. Savannah is definitely on my list of places I'd love to visit someday soon. The whole aura of the city seems so inviting and charming. I think I'd love it!
If you want me to search your craigslist, check the list in my sidebar ---> to see if your city's in the lineup, if not, send me an email to Nuestravidadulce@gmail.com and I would be happy to add it to the list!

I Am So Excited
I'm a Glee fan, but I'm an even bigger Britney fan! I have been a fan of dear ol' Brit since my sophomore year of high school and my fan status has never wavered.
I've stuck by her through all of her crazy antics and I've always said she just needs a little dose of normal in her life... I totally think we'd be BFFs.
I attended her Circus tour and it was one of the BEST moments of my life. I'm dead serious.
To say I am excited for tonight's Glee episode would be the understatement of the year. Eeeek!
You know where I'll be tonight! Will you be watching????

On to my picks!
{Not a fan of sets...but maybe, just maybe, they'd break up the set for you and you could have two chairs--the loveseat--or the table for much cheaper!}
{I am envisioning a new mirror for the tabletop and new paint color!}

I've Said It Before
And I'll say it again, I really want our next project to be tiling our kitchen backsplash.
This pic isn't the most current, but you can at least see the space a little bit. : )
I don't anticipate it being a difficult project, so I really don't know why we haven't bit the bullet and done it! All we want is a simple subway tile pattern that should be pretty easy and inexpensive as well. A-men!
I've saved a couple photos in my inspiration folder that make me giddy when I see them.
And, aren't the floors in this last photo yummy? They are my inspiration for our next BIG project that we won't tackle ourselves. I absolutley cannot wait for that transformation. Mmm, hmmm! I'm ready to say goodbye to our 1960s orange hardwoods!
The tiling though---I think that may be a project Dave and I could actually tackle on our own! We'll shall see. Wish us luck.

Bamboo Finds With Special Meaning ♥
Are you tired of my bamboo obsession yet? I hope not! This time my bamboo finds come straight from my dad's garage!
These frames were my grandma's and they were just sitting in a box waiting to come home with me. You see, I don't know if I've talked about this on the blog before, but I'm 1/4 Asian. You would've never guessed it, right?
That's what I thought.
My dad's mom was Japanese and my grandpa met her during WWII. They moved over here shortly after that war and had 4 children.
My grandma died suddenly about 6 years ago and I miss her all the time. She was one of the funniest people I ever met {even though she never knew just how funny she was!}, hands down the best sweet tea maker, a great deal finder, and simply put--a kind soul.
Love you, Grandma Teiko! ♥
