Advice Noted...Let The Changes Begin!

Who knew a simple front door question would make me kick this makeover into full gear? I guess that rug post helped a little too. It seems a lot of you are on the same page and recommended one of my favorite colors for the front door...black!!! And, most of you suggested the shutters get painted too, and I am totally feeling it! So much so that I want to paint this weekend. Hopefully our freaky weather will get its act together and let me get to work! Oh and someone recommended we scrap the storm door, but that's totally not an option because it has 2 very big fans that each have four little legs. They live for looking out the front door.

Then after a little persistence, I found some reasonable {note: not entirely cheap!} planters that I am digging too. But, in white or black? These are just an option while I still am on the hunt! They're about 30" tall and just modern enough without being too stark.

And I didn't stop there, I've got these wonderful numbers from Home Depot that I've had for months {over a year is more like it} and I can wait to switch them out to make them look as fabulous as Ms. FC's do!

Oh, and while I'm at it, the garage lights are starting to look lilliputian so I brainstormed some possible new options there, too. The following are all about 5-7 inches taller than what we have now and much more proportional.

Have a favorite or any other suggestions? Don't hold out on me favorite readers! : )

I'm excited to get started and appreciate your input. As always, your always helpful comments make my day!

xoxo

err...I accidentally posted under the wrong account.

Anywho -- isnt it lovely how one project turns into forty-leven? I love the black paint for the shutters and door -- and black planters too!

Light fixture #3 but only if you use the clear bulbs!

i like #2- the flat bottom looks modern. I think black for the door and shutters is going to look great but it may make your garage door and surrounds a little out of place. Any plans to paint them?

Aww, thx Joi-joi!!!! =]

I'm totally w/ you about the storm door--our 4-legged buddy would be heart broken if we got rid of it!

I LOVE the black planter & light #3! I can't wait to see it all come together. Gives me yet another reason to obsessively stalk your blog. I mean, stalk it even more. Oh no, have I said too much? =]

I say go with the black planters-- think it would better with your rug (and weather elements). And my vote is for #3, esp if you're wanting a mod look.
