Updates! {I'm back...}

Hey guys! I really hope some of you are still out there.  I am so sorry for taking such a long blogging hiatus.  I never planned on doing so but I also never planned on having such a very difficult and trying time raising our high needs baby.  I would explain, but really, I think it deserves its own post.  I was a complete & utter mess this summer...no joke.  It was absolutely brutal and it's still so hard but I am finally starting to smile again and enjoy life.

Dramatic? Sure.

But oh-so-true.  I really can't wait to share my emotions with you on that one.  I'm not embarassed of them and I hope they help someone else struggling to raise a difficult {or easy!} baby of their own. Stay tuned...

Buuut, today. Let's get back to today. I am so excited about some new things brewing on the horizon over at Casa Svezia.  First, I am so blessed to have such loving and giving in-laws.  From day one of dating my husband {then boyfriend} they have always shown me the utmost love and care.  They are fabulous people and even better grandparents.

Recently, my in-laws gifted us a dishwasher.  I know, right? What an overwhelmingly sweet gift.  I've never, in my thirty years, had a functional dishwasher and they wanted David and I to have time to do other things {like take care of &play with baby T} than handwash dishes all of the time.  We are blessed.

So, here's our little 1960s Ranch kitchen pre-dishwasher:

And, now...here's the {poor phone quality} in-progress-almost-after-kitchen with a dishwasher [eek!]:

My amazing father-in-law custom made the cabinets to the right and installed everything himself. He is superman.  Amazing.

There are some other fun things happening, too!

--We're overhauling the living room decor--whoop whoop!!
-- Another baby essentials post is coming.
--And, we were featured in a national magazine! I'll be sharing all those updates soon.

Thanks, from the bottom of my heart, for your sweet emails and blog comments on David's posts.  You guys are awesome.

Can I close this little ol' post with my cutie patootie son? K, thanks!

Those cheeks. I die. : )

Welcome back! Can't wait to see all the house updates :). Yours was the first design blog I ever read or followed, so it is exciting to see your home grow and change with your family!

And speaking of family, congrats on a beautiful baby boy. I am in the same boat with you, as far as a reflux momma is concerned. I know that once that starts rearing its hideously ugly head, time pretty much stops or feels like it moves at a snails pace. Eventually I hope to email you guys some encouragment, but right now I will just leave this comment ;). But it does get better! Hang in there!!!!

I hear ya!! Jett was WAY hard. I cried every day the first two weeks and many times after that for months. It got easier but adjusting to life with a baby is hard enough let alone a difficult baby. I remember I used to look at those moms with babies that slept all the time and think how unfair it was. Jane has been a pretty easy baby but I still feel overwhelmed and cry all the time. Bringing a baby into your home and life is SUCH a huge adjustment. Hang in there and don't worry about the blog! We are all here for whenever you are ready to post.

You are such an amazing mom! I love that you're planning to share your ups and downs with T on the blog.

I mentioned in one of Dave's posts that my parents (who clearly aren't sugar coating anything, lol) said I was a completely miserable baby and it was so bad that they refused to have any more children after me. From the time I woke up until the time I went to sleep (and I was not a napper, yikes!) I screamed bloody murder. FOR A YEAR. To compound matters, my mom would see all her friends with their happy, content babies and think "what am I doing wrong?"

Easy for me to say since I am not a parent, but when it comes to parenthood, I think many believe that it won't be easy, but they'll manage. Then many moms and dads see all these seemingly perfect families in the blog world and can't relate to what's affecting them directly. You are doing a huge service so many by sharing your story!

That's awesome about the dishwasher!! I'm holding my screaming fussy baby wondering why he naps at daycare but NEVER for me, so I can understand how hard it is dealing with a baby that needs you constantly. All day long, I can't do anything. It's really getting old!

So happy to see your name pop up in my reader. Love hearing from you and totally understand your absence. Missed ya! I'm seriously looking forward to seeing that dishwasher - so handy you won't know how you live without one. And unknown that living room is going to knock my socks off.
