Hey guys! Happy Thursday. Today I've got my big glucose test and I am hoping to pass. I've heard some pretty awful stories about the stuff they make you drink, but that's ok. I'm happy to get to do it. : )
Yesterday David and his dad painted the nursery, installed some custom closet shelving, and put the crib together. It's getting very real and just a little bit scary. Baby boy is coming in a few short months whether we're ready or not.
The other day while shopping at Home Goods, David and I found this adorable white giraffe lamp for only $30! It's the perfect addition to our whimsical nursery and we couldn't be more pleased to have purchased it.
We scored quite the deal since the Jonathan Adler version retails for nearly $400.
I can't wait for the room to come together so I have something to share with all of you.
Oh, and this weekend David and I are planning to register. We're a little overwhelmed and could use any tips, tricks, or advice on baby items that you've loved or hated. We're all ears.
Have a very happy new year!!

Simple Things
I hardly ever buy fresh flowers but for some reason I did the other day. For a whole bundle I think I paid around $10. I divided them up into three separate small groupings and I love the way they add a little something extra around these parts.

On another note, I was attempting to send out photo Christmas cards this year but I could never find a picture that seemed appropriate or clear enough to my liking. This one from Thanksgiving almost fit the bill but it just wasn't as crisp as I would've liked. Maybe next year!

Oh, and this week since we're off of school, David and I are making some strides in the baby's room! Today David and his dad are going to paint the room and then hopefully we will lay out the rug and put together the crib. I am so very excited!
I'm currently in my 26th week and keep on growing. Here's a cell phone pic from Christmas day--hope you guys all had a very happy holiday.

Baby Boy Nursery Plan {So Excited!}
Since finding out the baby was a boy I have been getting some ideas in my head for his nursery. It all came together pretty simply and I had no idea where it would take me. I guess the main inspiration for the room is my beloved CB2 Ferris Wheel that I picked up in Chicago this past summer. I had always wanted to put it in the guestroom but it really serves as the perfect inspiration for our baby's room.
I don't know about you, but something about ferris wheels makes me smile and think of carefree fun in the summertime. I immediately was drawn to incorporating a bit of whimsy into this little guy's room and Dave likes to tell everyone that the theme is "whimsical." I am so not a theme person but he caught me off guard one day when he asked me how I was going to decorate. Of course the words, "the theme is whimsical" left my mouth and I haven't been able to live that down since. Most people are taken aback when I tell them I really have no direction--no surprise there. My rooms are always quite the eclectic mix.
Throughout these past few weeks we have been so blessed by family and friends who have gifted us major portions of the little dude's room.
So far my sweet brother and sister-in- law have bought us the crib, my father-in-law is building special custom shelving for the closet, and my mom, step-dad, and grandparents are pitching in tofor the glider. David and I are eternally grateful that our baby boy is already loved so much. Besides all of the big ticket items, baby boy has already received numerous items from my dear friends, too. It makes me an emotional sap to think of how much I adore my family and friends and how blessed we are in this life.
So without further ado, here's my mood board for our baby boy's nursery!
It took me a couple hours to create because I had to teach myself how to remove the background from images and all that jazzy stuff in Photoshop. I should've wrote it all down, or at the least saved the links because I had a blast making this room come together and I'd love to be able to make more mood boards for people. : )
Since it was my first dabble in mood boards I'm sure I could learn a thing or two, but overall I'm pretty pleased. This is the direction I'm headed in and can't wait for it all to come to life.
So far we have:
-crib
-rug
-navy velvet drapes
-glider {ordered}
-'You Are My Sunshine' print
-vintage dresser {waiting to be painted}
Still need:
-overhead light
-hot air balloon mobile
-other prints to fill the wall
-paint {for room and dresser}
-flag bunting
-crib bedding {I'm leaning towards simple polka dot sheets and a DIY bed skirt}
Over Christmas break we plan to make some headway so be expecting some IRL photos soon. Thanks for letting me share his room with all of you.

25 Weeks Today
Since announcing our pregnancy on the blog I've neglected to share some pictures with you guys. We hit the 25 week mark today and I seem to be ever-expanding. This pregnancy has been quite the journey and I can't wait to meet our little guy at the end. I think my bladder shrinks daily--I've never seen the bathroom so much in my life. Hope that wasn't too much information! ; )
My sweet husband takes weekly, if not every 2 weeks (we sometimes forget), photos of yours truly so that we'll have something to remember this time by. My little sweetie, Niko, seems to make an appearance in every shot. I ♥ that dog.

I've got nursery plans all ready to go and I can't wait to share them with you guys! Hope everyone is enjoying this last week before Christmastime.

{Inspired} DIY Christmas Decor
The other day I was perusing my some of the blogrolls of my favorite blogs when I landed on Hi Sugarplum! Cassie's got great style and a seemingly stellar personality.
I've been in a little bit of a DIY dryspell but Ms. Cassie pulled me right out of it! Her post on DIY Tie Dye ornaments made my almost-6 month pregnant self head out to Michael's to pick up all of the necessary supplies.
It probably helped that her tree was decorated in pink and so is mine. : )
The only supplies you need are some glass ornaments and paint color of your choice. I stayed in the pink family to complement our already pink, silver, and white tree.
I scored the ornaments on sale at Michael's for $3 bucks I think. I can't recall the cost of all three paints but I do know I have enough left over to make possibly one or two more ornaments.
I'm sure there could be a method to the madness for this DIY project but I just squirted some paint into the ornament and rolled it around until the whole inside was covered.

Once they were all finished I hung them on the tree immediately. I'm definitely pleased with the way they turned out.
Scoutie Bear was less than impressed and was only concerned with waiting for her daddy to get back from the store. She's obsessed with that husband of mine.

What's Good In Your Hood {Tampa}
Hey friends! Hope you guys had a great weekend. It's been a little over a week since I checked in and I guess life has just caught up with me. With the holiday season in full swing and the end of my master's class nearing--my nights have been pretty busy. But, my master's class is over on Tuesday and I am so excited to be graduating on Saturday! David and I have worked very hard to get here and like one of my best friends said on my facebook, it will be so nice to be free again.
Today our craigslist hunt takes us down to Tampa, Florida. Let's get to it!

Christmas Decorations
I love decorating for Christmas. I wasn't always the biggest fan of lugging what seemed like thousands of boxes up from my mom's basement when I was kid to decorate all day long, but now that I have my own home it's a little different. I do love the holidays and enjoy putting my own decorations up. Last year I finally ordered my dream white Christmas tree and changed to pink, silver, white, and gold goodies. It's perfectly girly and I appreciate Dave's tolerance. I've said it many times before, but he truly is the best there is.
For awhile now, David and I have made a little tradition of watching Elf while we decorate the tree. I adore that movie and can't watch the whole thing without crying like a baby. I just love Buddy the Elf!
I don't go quite as Christmas-crazy as my mom does but I can finally admit to loving to decorate!
: )
Here are a couple of shots from this year's get-up.
Have you decorated yet? I'd love to see it! Post a link and consider me a guest in your home.
