An Elephant & Pagoda

I've been meaning to share these two little finds with you guys for awhile now, but I guess life got in the way! : )

While perusing Garden Ridge the other day I came across this little outdoor pagoda and scooped that baby up licketysplit! I loved its shape but not so much its peachy-gray coloring. That same weekend I came across this little elephant at Cato, a clothing store of all places!

Photobucket

The dark brown coloring did not highlight this little guy's fun detailing so I took my can of spray paint and made over both the pagoda and little elephant.

Photobucket

Currently the pagoda is hanging out on our entryway table. You may {or may not : )} notice another little switcheroo on this table, too!

Photobucket

That brass sculpture on the right is really a vintage toilet paper holder but I preferred it here in its new spot just looking pretty.

Photobucket

Mr. Elephant is currently living it up on my nightstand in our bedroom. He's happy there for now. : )

Buy any fun finds lately? Point me in the right direction and I'm there!

My New Digs

I am so excited and happy to share this news with you guys! As some of you may know, our home was recently photographed for the lovely St. Louis At Home magazine. It was surreal to have our home styled for a photo-shoot and even more surreal to see our dining room on the front cover of this month's issue! Say what?!?

When I got the email telling us about the cover I about peed my pants. 'Tis true friends. I hope you understand...haha!

As soon as I get my hands on that magazine I will post a pic for you guys to see and I really hope my St. Louis friends check it out. I cannot wait to see those magazines on sale in-store! I may act a little cooky when I finally see it--I still cannot get over how much fun this whole experience has been! I feel like a kid on Christmas!

But, I digress, back to the main point. I was recently asked to be a contributor to the St. Louis At Home magazine's Secretary of the Interior blog!

My assignment is to blog twice a month about St. Louis craigslist finds and other decor that catches my eye! I am so honored and humbled to be asked to do this...this is a total dream of mine that almost doesn't feel real. And...the icinig on the cake? I'll be getting paid! It's so crazy to believe but I feel like I am making my dreams come true. And while that may be a little cheesy, I honestly could feel no different way about it.

Thanks for letting me share the good news with you all and I hope you hop on over to check out my first post.

Love you guys!

What's Good In Your Hood {Sacramento}

Hey again! One day, two posts...I'm on a roll! We've had quite the weekend here in St. Louis with severe weather and tornadoes plaguing the area. The forecast still looks grim for this week so I hope everyone stays safe.

Today our search takes us to Sacramento, California.

Great Day For Great Finds

Happy Monday, everybody! Before I bring you my usual craigslist city roundup {it's posting later this afternoon}, I'm stopping in real quick to give you guys some local listings that caught my eye.

Why you ask? Well the answer's quite simple. Today, at 10 a.m. St. Louis time, I'll be chatting with Great Day St. Louis host Virginia Kerr about how to make the most out of your craigslist searches.

First up, I chose this $40 dresser. It's a great price for a piece that has great lines. I like it as is but I could also envision it with a paint makeover. I'd use this in an office as a credenza or in a bedroom or living room as a flat screen TV stand.

Photobucket

Next on my radar was this great pair of bamboo detailing chairs. The price is great at $215 {or best offer!} and the upholstery could easily be replaced. I would use this pair as captain chairs in a dining room or as living room occasional chairs.

Photobucket

Finally, my third favorite find was this pair of brass lamps for $100. The lamps are tall and have great shades with them. I love bringing brass back into home fixtures and mixing finishes, too. If brass is not your thing, a can of spray paint will run you only $5!

Photobucket

Thanks for stopping by today! Stay tuned later on this afternoon for my Sacramento picks!

Color Scheme LOVE

I don't remember where I saved this image from {bad, I know} but it has been on the forefront of my mind for days. I am in love with it and want to redesign a room around it asap!

Photobucket

I did google the wording and came up with this blog, so I hope I'm giving credit where it's due!

What's Good In Your Hood {Los Angeles}

Better late than never, right? That's what "they" say! And I put quotes around "they" because I just taught my students how to use that set-up in Spanish. It's called the impersonal se for those of you that are curious. : )

Anyhoo...let's do this thing. LA...you're up!
