Thrifty Tuesday

It's been awhile since I showed you guys my latest fun thrifty finds. As you guys already know, I love to visit my favorite thrift stores on Friday after school. It's a little treat that I always look forward to throughout the week. Recently I scored two little gold little owls that came to live with us on our kitchen windowsill.

I love their antiqued brass finish and have no plans to spray paint these little guys!

I also snagged a needlepoint daffodil print that reminds me of my mom since those are her favorite flowers. It's sitting in the kitchen as well!

A couple of big furniture items caught my eye but I have to stop myself from buying things for which I have no room.

First up, this dining set has been at one of my spots for a couple weeks now. I love the geometric detailing but keep passing it up. As the price goes down, I'm losing my willpower to not buy all of the pieces!

Most recently, my eye caught this little bamboo set...I'm a sucker for bamboo but passed on this as well. Ooh, I just love it but know I don't need it.

Must not give into temptation. Say it with me...

What have you guys scored recently? I'd love to see...send me a link and I'm there!

xoxo

Oh my goodness you are WAY stronger than me. I would have bought both the geometric dining chairs AND the bamboo ones. I currently have a chair obsession and collection of my own. None of which have been painted or reupholstered yet, it's starting to look like my storage room is a thrift store.. Oops?

I got this amazing blue chair on craigslist recently.

There's an awesome brass bar cart on craigslist that I keep telling myself I have no place to put, and I don't drink, so it would be silly to buy. But its pretty :-)

Those chairs are great! I keep hoping to walk into my local store and find something like them. I will be patient.

Ooh, that furniture would tempt me too.

I haven't yet found a good thrift shop in my area, but I did have a good consignment shop find (way marked down) and a next-to-trash-can score :) I still have to repaint them though: http://copy-craft.blogspot.com/2011/04/paint-makeovers-inspiration-befores.html

WHAAAAT! You left those beauties sitting in the store? We only have a car, but I would surely be making all the trios necessary to cart home all the pieces. LOL. I would just have to hide them under lots of newspaper, sheets, leaves, whatever, so that my husband doesn't see them. LOL

oh my gosh how do you resist?!!! Those chairs are to die for... and since I'm in the area I want to visit this place! Although I can not buy anything, boo hoo.

Love, love, love the bamboo set! I do the same thing - fall in love with things but with a 1000sq. ft. house I just don't have the room.

Girl! I am going to have to come to St. Louis to get that first set of chairs! They would be perfect for my dining room! I am so jealous of your goodwill

Hey Joi!
So GLAD you're not painting those adorable owls. They are so pretty just the way they are!

I recently picked up some fun lamps with brass detailing:

My husband was shocked when I said I wasn't planning on spray painting them. :)
Hope you have a great one!

Hey Joi. So happy I found your blog. I'm a new follower, I hope you will as well. I started my blog a little over a month ago. It's all about celebrity fashion from the point of view of an LA stylist. Stop by to see multiple post a day on all the latest celebrity fashion news and check out pictures from the fall/winter preview I attended yesterday in Beverly Hills. xoxo. Would love your support. xoxo

Hi Joi,

Those are some super cute owls and I'm so glad you don't plan to paint them! I don't know how you walked away from the two dining sets! But good for you! That takes willpower during your Friday afternoon treat. Ever considered buying to resell? Or have you tried this already? Clearly you have a great eye and people are drawn to your taste.

Those owls are so cute. We went on a major thrifting spree this weekend for my sisters apartment. It was great. Here are just a few of our finds. http://jandjhome.blogspot.com/2011/04/week-end-finds-sister-files.html

I love the brass owls. I found a brass bird at an antique shop a long time ago, and I sprayed it white. I totally regret it and wished I would have left it brass!

Those little owls are so cute! I have a similar brass set and they make me smile whenever I see them. That bamboo table and chairs are very tempting!

I just scored a bar cart (and happened to just blog about it tonight)! http://name5things.blogspot.com/2011/04/vintage-bar-cart-score.html

I love looking at other people's thrifty finds! I scored some great new bedside tables at an antique market a few weeks ago: http://justabouthome.wordpress.com/2011/04/04/scouring-the-alameda-antiques-fair-finding-a-good-booth-or-seller/

Love those owls! Our latest thrifty find is a dresser that reminds me oh-so-much of one you would find at Anthro- without the hefty price tag!
