Curtain Call

It's no shocker that I change my decor in my home more than the average Joe. It keeps me sane and happy and since my tastes change from minute to minute, it's something I have learned to go with the flow. Thank goodness that Mister of mine does too. Bless his heart for dealing with my ever-changing ways!

The current curtains in our master bedroom are currently on the cutting block. I bought these bad boys *almost* a year ago while we we San Diego for my sister-in-law's wedding. In fact, these same curtains put my luggage over the weight limit and I had to cough up an extra $50! I was not a happy camper, but such is life.

I still love the curtains, I really do, but I am fed up with the way they are hanging. They're too stiff and they bother me. I know it seems silly, but I get so frustrated with them.

Photobucket

For awhile now I've had my eye on this fabric by Anna Marie Horner. I spied this fun fabric via a random blog a few weeks back. I can't find that same blog now, but I did find this picture that showcases the lovely print even better!

Photobucket

Since I've decided to replace my current gray curtains, I've made my mind up to incorporate a graphic print {such as the one above}. While I {no surprise} LOVE a couple of options from Anthropolgie, my pocketbook cannot afford that damage. I could do 4 panels in the fabric you see above for just one Anthropologie panel. For a frugalista like me, this is a no brainer.

The graphic blue pattern from Anna was not my only choice...I also loved this geometric gray pattern.

Photobucket

I definitely know I want a larger scaled pattern, and while I think this one is great in so many ways, the print is unfortunately too little for what I have in mind.

So, long story short, I'm 90% sure that I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase the Anna Marie Horner fabric you see above! I hope I love it in my home as much as I love it on that pillow. So tell me, is anyone else feeling similar curtains woes? I'd love to empathize!

xoxo

The colors are wonderful, it's a great pattern and a great price. Since it's 100% it should hang better than your current ones. Good luck !

I like it, I love it! said...

OMG, I love the orange curtains from Anthro. Darn those high prices. Love your bedroom!

I can never seem to find curtians that I love & that Sr. would allow me to get. I really wanted a flower pattern, but Sr. doesn't like a flower pattern curtians.. so I stick with solids.. Now, I have white curtians in our greatroom area. I have a feeeling I will be changing them. I actually really loove those curtians you have up now, but the Anna Marie Horner fabric is so BEAUTIFUL & is going to work so much better in your master bedroom .
btw.. I have that same comforter.. lol Did you get it from Target?

Love that fabric, I'm a huge navy fan. I feel the same way about most of my curtains. They are white and clean, yes, but not fun! The curtains will look great in your room.

I'm with you Joi, since adding the new drapes in my kitchen the ones in the family room just aren't cutting it anymore. I'm trying to be "good" and finish one room at the time though so we will see what happens.

Hey at least your windows HAVE curtains! Our home was built in 1860 and while my style is vintage/modern I struggle with finding the right combination of privacy meets my style meets my budget meets the colors of our rooms. Do you see my problem? Therefore, the majority of our windows dont even have curtain panels. Theyre naked with the exception of crappy cheap mini blinds.

I need you to come help me!:)
XO,
Sarah

I LOVE that pillow... I've seen pillow covers on etsy with very similar fabric, and I fell in love. Curtains are hard though.. it's such a big piece so you feel like you really gotta get it right. Good luck!

Fun patterns! I'm currently having major curtain woes so it's nice to see your ideas - the only ones I've got up are in the living room and have similar stiffness issues, and I have nothing in the rest of the house but need it... NO IDEA where to start (pattern? solid? sheer? waaahh!)

Seems like we're on the same page!!! I posted my bedroom curtain options today as well....

Thought I would love curtain choosing, and as it turns out, not so much!!! =)

I love the pattern you chose. It's going to look amazing in your home.

I seriously need your help with curtains in the new house. I've been going back and forth about big patterns vs. small patterns vs. neutrals. I really wanna try some patterns, since all of my current curtains are solids. Want to take on a charity case?

I posted this on the wrong post before: whoops! Here are some curtains made out of your fabric choice: http://thequilterhood.blogspot.com/2010/07/curtain-call.html

i hate curtains and it sucks because they can make or break a room and I am like you, i change my mind so many times and changing the curtains is the biggest pain. I wouldn't mind having your old ones if you get rid of them.

Yes! I am fed up with my peacock blue bedroom curtains from Pier one and going to try my hand at making curtain panels with some gorgeous blue Joel Dewberry fabric!

So tell me, are you just going to get some clip rings and throw the panels up there? Or will you attempt to hem them? I'm thinking I'm going to go with the throw them up there-- especially since they are behind our bed and we don't see the bottoms anyway...

I think that fabric is perfect for your room!! I am constantly searching for a great fabric for curtains in my bedroom, too - it's so hard... But I think I really should wait until I find the perfect duvet.

because your headboard is quite detailed/ornate, adding printed curtains will make everything too busy-which might be too visually stimulating at the end of the day when you're ready to rest.i like the anna maria horner fabric though, maybe just for a decorative pillow on the bed. i really enjoy your blog!

I made bedding for my sister's twins using the brown geometric fabric as an accent. I must say, it looked fabulous, if I do say so myself. Chic Rooms

Love the fabric choice! I've been thinking about curtains for the 8 months we've lived in this house and still haven't come to any decisions and like you, I'm going to just sew them myself. I thought this would make things easier but no such luck!

The Anthro curtains are awesome but I can't quite justify the expense either!

Looking forward to seeing the change. Because the rest of the room is quite neutral (I'm loving the headboard by the way), a bit of bold pattern will look fabulous.
