I've always enjoyed this little space in our room but like many spaces, this one has also evolved.
You may remember these chairs I scored at the Salvation Army a couple months ago:
They have been sitting in my garage ever since then, waiting for a perfect spot. I recently decided to use one to replace the blue one up above.
I bought some fabric that caught my eye {it's a gorgeous colorful pattern that infused Asian and Aztec design elements} and used a silver leafing technique to bring out the great bamboo structure.
I also finally got around to taking the butterflies down {they were great while they lasted} and then I hung up some of my thrifting finds in their place.

Our final result is a little more eclectic, no shocker there, and will last for who knows how long. You all know me. ; )
On a side not, I'm thinking of selling 4 of the bamboo chairs as a set and keeping one other one out of the 6. I love those chairs, in a serious way, but they are not getting their proper use here. Hopefully someone else can benefit from them in their own decor. : )

Ahh! I love those chairs. If only I lived closer I would definitely take those lovelies off your hands if you decided to sell!
What a great area. I see you painted the glass butterfly gold. Joi, do you like butterflies among other things...lol
What will you do with the other butterflies? Perhaps you can paint them out a bright color and reuse them somewhere in the home?
Mr. Goodwill Hunting
oooh! how much are you thinking about selling them for??
I really LOVE what you did with those chairs. The silver leafing looks so good with the fabric you chose. Was it hard to silver leaf the chairs with their irregular shapes?
It looks fabulous Joi,I'm crazy for the silver leaf on the chair...wow! The whole corner just came together wonderfully.
I love what you did to this chair! The fabric...the silver! Amazing...love. it.
Great little vingette you've got going on. Those chairs are great and I love that you gilded it silver. Love the vintage pictures you found. It all looks great!

What a great new look! So fun to switch things up!
Oh my goodness I have been searching for chairs like that, I wish I lived closer! I love that fabric on the chair, do you know who makes it and what style it is? Your new corner looks beautiful!
Oh my goodness!! Those chairs are incredible!! I also scored a few at salvation army that look similar.

I love, love, love the chairs. The silver leafing looks amazing and I love the fabric. You've totally got me on the look out for some type of bamboo furniture. A little paint can do so much.
Fabulous makeover...that fabric is just so awesome!!! Maybe you should open up a shop where you live and sell of these magnificent finds!! Just a thought!
Sell me the butterflies :) I will put them to good use.
Looks gorgeous! And that's a smart idea, to keep one and sell the other four.
Oh and I have two of those same milk glass goblets!

I love what you did with the chair. It looks fabulous. No surprise here. Everything you touch turns 'gilded.'
You have just great vision! I love the silver leafing on the chair and the vintage frames.. It just looks oh so good:)
love the eclectic style in your home. you are pulling it off very well my dear...
@Amy-We're selling the set of 4 for $200. If you're interested, email me. : )
@Ingrid-I'm sorry, I have no idea who makes the fabric. : (
How fun and different to paint the chairs silver!
Fabulous Chair. Aww, sad that they won't be living with you anymore. :(
The new area looks amazing! My favorite part besides the chair is the plate you spray painted white, it was genius!! If I would have saw that while thrifting I would have passed it up, now I know better!
I agree, the silver on the chairs is to die for. I have been wanting to metal-ize things in my house as well!
My husband wants to know if I can get a frequent shopper discount at the Salvation Army...glad I'm not the only one with a "problem". :)
I am swooning over those chairs my dear. The finessing you did with them make them FABULOUS! I love the detailing with the shimmer....you amaze me my dear. Ok so seriously....I am thinking this summer we have a thrift fest in my area....time to tweet and discuss.
:)
Cheers~

I love the new look! That fabric is beautiful and the paint color for the chair is fabulous!
I recently snagged a thrifted painting and after seeing yours, I am excited to get it hung up. Love the mix you have going on!
That chair is amazing. I love the silver and the fabric is so perfect. I love the change.
i love how you are always changing things up~ the space looks fabulous~
ahh! I wish, but that's a bit out of my price range! Thanks though! I hope you find someone who will give them some love!
@Amy-We priced them on the higher end on craigslist expecting some haggling. If you're seriously interested in them, let me know and lowering the price is not an issue. : )
You should open a shop someday - that would be awesome!
I love the silverleafing on the chair, it looks amazing against the gray walls.
I love the little tweaks to the thrifty finds. It's really surprising how well all these seemingly disparate objects just come together with a little Joi love! You really do have the vision.
The chairs are stunning.
Gorgeous! That corner is a little bit of springtime.
That is one hot corner. I love all of the subtle revamps of the thrift store goodies.
In a perfect, money-is-no-object world, I would be all over those chairs! I hope they find a good home!

Oh my gosh! I would never have thought to do silver on those chairs! LOVE IT! Way to go!
xx
The chairs turned out absolutely amazing! The silver leaf was such a great idea to make the lines of the chair really pop. I also love the eclectic fabric choice. Wish I lived near you because I would snag the other four!
