Can we be real honest here for a quick second? I still am not even 100% sure what the translation of faux bois is. I know it looks like a fancy couple of words, but still I'm a little stumped. Don't even get me started on its pronunciation. ; )
Anyhoo, I know that I like faux bois and fell in love with an awesome little print off of Etsy a couple months ago.
It's customizable and just so dang sweet. I never bit the bullet and bought it, and I am happy I didn't, because it leads me to my latest DIY project.
As I was browsing the Container Store's website about a month ago for organizational stuff, I ran across this faux bois wrapping paper. And like that, a light bulb went off and I knew I had to have it.
I have long wanted to add a sort of monogram style art to this empty frame in our bedroom and have never, until the other day, made it happen.
I was originally inspired by YHL's bedroom monograms and then more recently the Etsy piece you see above.
I wanted to use the Etsy art as inspiration and I searched through fonts until I found one I liked. Then I used WordArt to type the initials and heart so I could "mirror image" the letters.
I did this so when I cut them out I could be a little messy and not worry about having to see the outline of the letters.
I then measured the frame and took an inch off of all 4 sides to leave a border, or so it would look like the"art" was matted. Then I cut the wrapping paper to size and glue-sticked the letters on to the paper.
Here's the finished product hanging in our bedroom:

Fun Find: Anthropologie Napkins
I just can't get enough of bright floral patterns here lately! I don't know what it is, but they seem to just reel me in. You already know how my sweet mom turned some absolutely amazing dish towels into pillows and now I've fallen in love with even more floral loveliness. It's a sickness, I tell you.
This weekend I found a set of napkins perfect for making something fun! And holy cow, it's a good thing I didn't see this, because well I may of had to have it, too. Phew...close call.
I wanted to walk away, but I just could not do it...I had to have them. Ever feel that way? I know you have! : D
I think my plans are to frame them and hang them in my hallway. At least those are the plans, for now. You know I'll keep you updated.

Finally...A Bamboo Find For Me : )
As you all know, I'm always searching for some hidden treasures on craiglist for my great readers and every once in awhile I'll head on over to the St. Louis site just to browse. I've been in love with all the fun bamboo pieces I've found in other cities and this summer I was lucky enough to score a piece for myself!
It's sitting in the garage right now, but I am itching to give it a makeover and bring it on inside. I think I know where she's going, but only time will tell!
I just love a good project!

Plate Wall Additions
This weekend David and I had a nice little date night which included stops at The Container Store, California Pizza Kitchen, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie! We ended the night with some tasty custard at Culver's where I indulged in their bananas foster sundae. I l-o-v-e it. It's not on the menu at my Culver's, but ask for it and they may have it. : )
I originally went to the Container Store for a specific item {that I'll blog about very soon} but also came across these great little plate hangers!
When I first hung my plates on the wall, I had used some just like these ones which I ordered online from here. But I am so happy to see them in a physical store! They work great and are holding all of my plates on our plate wall quite nicely.
All you have to do is wet the back of the hanger, let them sit for 5-10 minutes to get tacky, adhere them to the plate, wait overnight to let them cure, and then finally they're ready to hang!
I'm loving my new additions to the wall and don't know if I'm done adding to it or not...we shall see.
