$40 = $1600, Right?

Wow. Wow is about all I could say. I'll make this short and sweet, promise. I went to the doctor on Wednesday, paid what I thought was my $40 copay and came home. {P.S. I went to see the doc for enlarged lymph nodes in my neck...all seems to be A-OK}.

David came home and said, "My bank card was declined tonight when I tried to get gas." Ummm, what? That is not possible. We're not richie-mcrichersons but we do have a stable amount of cash cushion in our account.

So, I went straight online to our account and found that the doctor's office had charged me nearly $1600 for my office visit? Whhhhaaaat?!?! Because it was after 6 p.m. I couldn't call the office or the bank until the next morning. I was fuming and nervous about any overdraft fees should bills start clearing.

So, long story short, I called them the next morning and they apologized for their error {not as profusely as I would've imagined} and refunded the money to my account.

Now, if only my bank would post it I'd be almost $1600 richer. Still playing the waiting game, friends.

Lesson of the day---always check your receipts. I know I will from now on, no matter how much of a hurry I'm in!

Happy Friday, lovelies. I'm thinking about going here this weekend. : )

That is crazy! Talking about that, I bought food at Sam's Club yesterday, I got my receipt and saw that my cash due was $2,003! For buying a hot dog? I was excited for a moment, but then the lady told me, dont mind cash due, it was a little error! ha..

Whoa, seriously? That is nuts. Yeah, "oops" doesn't quite cover it.

When crap like that happens to me, my hands start shaking. Probably adrenaline. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Oh my gosh! I work as a financial coordinator for an oral & maxillofacial surgeon, and I just don't see how this could happen. Sure, the receptionist or whomever might have hit the wrong number on the machine, but how would it not be caught at the end of the day when the numbers didn't balance? Any smart practice balances their books and "cashes" up at the end of each day. I can't believe a $1560 mistake was just overlooked. So glad you got it straightened out.. valuable lesson learned though. You bet I'll be double-checking my receipts from now on! :)

Ack! Scary. We had a similar loss of money a while ago on the first of the month. We freaked. Turns out it was a bank error. They sent my new debit card and pin to a wrong address. ehhhh....

I am so happy you got it all worked out.

I would be livid for the same reasons C lists. I hope the waiting game ends before the weekend!

Oh wow! I agree with C: the doctors' office should have caught it by the end of the day AND they should have been the ones to call you AND they should have apologized like crazy!

Hope the money posts asap!

Oh No, not quite as bad on my end but we had been charge double (at my brothers restaurant, mind you!) LOL
Since we are on a TIGHT budget I check everything. I hope they are willing to pay the fee's if they are any.

Wow....I woul have gotten sick. In fact it makes me ill just thinking about it. I am always cautious of double chargers and even if it looks weird..I will inquire a price on the receipt, but now you have reaffirmed my belief to always check..ALWAYS.

Thank you for the heads up. I am also glad it all worked out for you.

Cheers~
