Who Would've Thought?

Not me, that's for sure. I never in a million, trillion years would've pegged myself as a goodwill/salvation army stalker. I go in there weekly to scope out the sleeper deals. If you asked the Joi 5 years ago if she would enjoy thrifting she would've laughed! Now, it's one of my absolute favorite things! And, the ones I frequent always have great stuff...lucky me!

My newest find was worth every penny of its $1.99 price tag. I don't know what about it spoke to me, but I had to have it! It's a handmade piece from the 1970's and I adore the colors. : )

Are you a thrift store shopper? If so, have you always loved it or are you a recent convert like me?

xoxo

I'm a recent one and I've learned two things. Buy it, it can be returned and it might not be there next time. And all those little cheap things can really add up to a lot!

Great finds!

I'm a recent convert too...after seeing all the treasures folks have rescued from Goodwill, I now visit at least once weekly. Now my search is for a dresser for my bedroom.

Now more than before for sure. Especially when dealing with clients with limited budgets. It's surprising what you find there if you go to the right ones.

I've always loved it. I used to get just clothes but now I am always searching the home goods section.

hi Joi! I'm a "silent" follower of your blog (don't say much), but I love thrift store shopping! I recently got into going after we purchased our home. I recently started a second blog about vintage thrift store they have potential to be "revamped" into something fabulous! I love your feature for craigslist finds and I started my on called "goodwill hunting"!
if you have time, I would love for you to check me out!

please excuse those errors in my last comment! I meant to say vintage pieces that have potential! its hard leaving a comment from a phone while holding a 1 year old!

I was born to be thrifty. My mom always dragged me to all the auctions she went to, which was a lot!
I'm okay with thrift stores, but I get a complete rush when I'm bidding!

I used to be a shameless thrift shopper back home in L.A. Not only would I scour Goodwills, yard sales and flea markets but my girlfriends and I would drive through certain neighborhoods on trash pick up days as well. Many a wing chair and dressers were thrown curbside back then. It was awesome. Where I live now they have "rules" (yawn) about things on the curb so it's not as fun. We do have thrift stores though and I need to get my ass out there shopping in them.

Recently I have been stopping at Goodwill every once in awhile just to see if I can find any treasures. There's one really close to my work, so it's a good way to spend the occasional lunch hour!

I'm the same way! Ask me 5 years ago, I probably would have turned up my nose. I don't even tell my mom, cause she wouldn't be down with it... maybe I could convince her after a few more projects. Love the colors in that needlepoint you found. Nice work!

With the recent recession and current state of the economy, I have found myself shopping at Goodwill and second hand stores to save money. This is something I never thought I would do and can't figure out why it took me so long to do so!

I've always loved it, but it's best when you can go regularly like you do, I don't have much time for it right now.
