Sofa-bulous!

So I was browsing craigslist the other day and ran across a sofa that I fell in love with. I always go there and type in "vintage" or "mid-century modern" and cross my fingers that I strike it rich.

I've had quite a bit of luck myself selling items on there and have bought a few myself, too. Anyone remember the lovely vintage dresser turned tv console? {This pic is a rough one considering we still hadn't stained the shelf to match...we have since done so and are in the plans to purchase a flat screen!}

Well, back to this past week and the sofa...I found a vintage french inspired tufted sofa for $75. Now, it is flower patterned and not my cup of tea, but I still stored it in the back of my mind. At the same time one of my blogger friends over at Get It Girl Style had just revealed her vintage sofa re-do and I was floored with the beauty of it! Check it out below...so perfect, T!

I emailed to ask her around how much it cost to get it all reupholstered and I was sold. Now all I had to do was hope that the sofa had not been sold. I immediately emailed the criagslist lady and much to my surprise she had lowered the price to $45! It was my lucky day! She said I could have it if I came the next night and so I did {thanks to maw maw and paw paw for the use of their truck and muscles ; ) }!

She told me that after she lowered the price she had numerous inquiries and I should be glad that I contacted her when I did. Well enough rambling....here's the sofa! It is in tip-top condition and looks amazizng for its age.

A guy is coming today {in about a 1/2 hour} to give me an estimate on the reupholstering job and I am sooooo excited.

Oh girl, lovely....I strangely even like the current fabric, hehe. What fabric are you thinking about? Where are you going to put it?!

Wow! It has great lines and so much potential. What fabric are you planning to reupholster it with?

That couch is gorgeous! Well, obviously not so gorgeous now, but I can see the potential! I can't wait to see if finished. I'm giddy just thinking about it. Do you mind sharing the cost when you settle on one for the upholstery?

I'll definitely be on the edge of my computer seat for this re-do! One thing I'm loving about CL is that most people cannot see the potential in an item like this- and the previous owner just wants to get rid of it as fast as they can. I'd say you scored BIG!

Thanks everyone! I am suuuuuper excited!

Paloma-I think some sort of durable creamy white. It's my dream. Am I crazy?

Erin-Our quote was for $475 plus the cost of whatever fabric I pick out. I'll email you final costs... : )

i do the exact same thing regarding craigslist. Mid century credenza is the current search. I am planning to do pretty much the same as you regarding the tv stand.
