I'm a sucker for a pretty peony. I have a little plant on the side of our home that comes back every year, but never blooms. I bought it pretty small so I just keep waiting for the Spring/Summer when the first blooms will arrive. Even though it's growing and coming back alive and well, it doesn't look like any blooms are going to grace me with their presence this year.
Anyhoo...the house diagonal from us has multiple peony bushes that I never knew existed until David and I were talking to our other neighbors across the street {who we ♥}. Sadly, the little couple who used to live there died last year and the house has sat empty without a new buyer{s} to take it over ever since. The little old lady would always tell Sharon, our neighbor friend, to cut her some peonies because there were so many!
Well, the peonies have been staring me down {I swear!} and I finally broke down and trekked over to the house and cut some off for our home. They are absolutely gorgeous and just happen to be two of my favorite colors of pink {who am I kidding, every shade is my fav ; )}!
They are looking quite lovely on our entryway table and I'm kinda hoping that the next potential buyer extends a peony offer too.... : ) !

I would have done the same thing. =] My neighbors have a hydrangea bush I've been eyeing.....
They're gorgeoous, Joi! Your camera makes their colors just POP.
We JUST planted 2 small peony bushes (Sarah Bernhardt and a Moonstone variety) from the nursery yesterday. I guess I won't be seeing any blooms for awhile, huh? Darn it!
Oh, those are gorgeous! We have two bushes in our yard, but they are both white. Those pinks are really nice!
I love peonies! They are my second favorite flower next to tulips!
hahaha, I did the same thing to my neighbor's peonies last year (the house was vacant). I couldn't take seeing all those peonies just dying on the bush.
Could it be that your peony bush isn't getting enough sun? They like lots of sun.
I just planted my own bushes this year...no more stealing for me (well, maybe).
I love them, how lucky that you have a little garden to pick from without feeling guilty.
Oh, they are so pretty!
I am usually a minimalist, but when it comes to flowers, the showier, the better. What's the point if they're not, right? Peonies are some of my absolute favorites, so much, that I don't even mind dealing with the ants that tend to come with the bush.
Thanks everyone! I love having some peonies to pick and choose from!
: )
very gorgeous picture..now a funny thing... of course you know how my eyes are right now- i kept staring at it thinking "what weird leaves, or maybe she did a funky photoshop thing"....it was of course the silver vases in the back...omg my brain is dead....
mine just bloomed- i wish you lived nearby... i would let you have as many as you like! miss you!
I got some peony bulbs at Lowe's for half price a few weeks ago, but I haven't planted them yet! I think it's too late now. Yours are so pretty!
