School's In Session

Today is my last day of summer freedom. Tomorrow is my first day at my new school where I get to sit in meetings all day and listen to everything entailed with being a new teacher--you know, things like rules, insurance, and the like. My sweet husband was a gem and accompanied me to the high school to set up my room today and yesterday. I had quite the undertaking because the lady whose position I took retired and basically left her room for me to clean out. It was really quite a daunting task, but it's done and I can move forward from here on out. I of course, in all my anxiousness, forgot to take before pictures, so the after shots will have to do!

This shot shows the bulletin board. I left it pretty similar to how she had it, but will change it as time goes on.

This was taken from the corner where the door is. I have lots more stuff to hang, but there is a 'no tape' policy at school so I have to get permission to use some sort of sticky stuff on the walls. The posters you see are hung on tack strips. I also love my papel picado banners! They brighten up the space so well : ) . The door would be to your left from this angle. The pineapple and Marge piƱatas are just two of the awesome ones my students at my former school made!My Desk and window area. The shades are from the school but I am going to commission my sweet mom to make me some fun curtains like I had at my old school! And, the TV that you see doesn't work--oh well! My window ledge with my frames and pictures my kiddos got me from last year as going away gifts---they are too sweet.

Hopefully this year will bring a lot of fun times along with new challenges and adventures. {But that's not saying that I won't miss my besties at EHS and my great former students!}

First, your new room looks great, as I knew it would! You're an awesome teacher and this "bestie" from your old school wishes you would still be down the hall from me this year....BUT...I want you to have fun at GCHS....I know that your students will LOVE you...you are always the bright spot in peoples' days! Of course that's when you're not being "too nice"....hee hee. Had to put that in there.....I expect a call tomorrow telling me how it went, as well as every day of your first week!

Yay! It looks like you are WAY faster at me at cleaning and organizing than I! It looks great! Way to be colorful, Joi!

... I've had my keys for about a month, and I still have drawers and shelves of inherited items to go through. My predecessor acquired quite a lot of stuff in her 35 years of teaching there, and those items include many cassette tapes that I think I just might throw away ... Yikes, I always freak out when I have to throw away former materials!

Anyhow, great idea to post pics of the room! Maybe I'll take my camera with me to the school tomorrow!

Your room is so cute! I was a high school Spanish teacher for four years. I would have been going back today, but I resigned and have changed careers. Good luck! Cute blog. :)
