DIY Headboard

After being inspired by the lovely John and Sherry over at This Young House with their DIY headboard instructions, I decided to take on the task. And let me tell you, it was just as easy as they made it seem.

I pretty much followed their directions to a T. I bought the canvas stretcher frames in 52" x 24"from the StL Art Mart and I bought the batting at Wal-Mart. I got the burlap fabric for a whopping 8 bucks at Jackman Fabrics!

The room that the head board goes in is not finished by any sense of the word. But, I thought I'd at least show you my handiwork tonight. It's getting a major re-do from its earlier shabby chic days. There are lots of things I want for this room, let me refresh your memory here! : )

Step #1 connect stretcher frames-they fit together like puzzle pieces!Step #2-cut the batting to size , leaving extra room to stretch over the frame!Step #3-staple the heck out of the batting to the frame!Step #4-flip over and make sure there are no gaps!Step #5-cut the fabric to size! In my case the burlap--yes, burlap!Step #6-staple fabric to frame! The finished product!Guest room before {you don't get the whole picture yet! ;-) }Guest room with head board
As soon as the room gets to where I want it to be--I'll post updates and lots of pics that look semi-good in natural light! Thanks for looking!
