My sweet husband and I made a little stop off at my favorite Antique Mall this weekend and ventured out with this beauty for only $25!
She's going in the hallway soon, but I am still contemplating if I want to paint her or not. I really like the gold as-is, but spray paint is calling my name, too! : )
What about a wash over the gold with a rag? Or stain? that would be pretty, too! I have an almost identical one (but smaller) with a broken mirror in the middle that I've probably had for five years and never done anything with. I had every intention of painting it, but I never seem to remember it when it comes to projects. Now you inspired me to pull that thing out!
Just my opinion, but I love an ornate frame painted in a fun color. I painted one green and hung it in my master bedroom. It really cheers things up. I think it would work ideally in your home.
How jealous am I!?! very!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think it would look great either as is or spray painted - you can't go wrong!
ReplyDeleteoh it's gorgeous! Tough call on whether to paint it or not as gold is coming back in style again... either way it's a great find for $25!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could help spray painting it. But I love the gold so much. I cant' wait to see it hung. Great find!

ReplyDeleteI say leave it the way it is. Love the look of green and gold that is popping up now.
ReplyDeletelucky you! definitely paint it. all that ornate detail would be great in a bright color.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! Just came across an image I stored for a future project. I'm going to email it to you. Maybe it'll help you decide what to do.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I really like it as is about I always have a problem saying no to a little spray paint!! LOL
ReplyDeletepretty find. i'd say leave it gold for a while but i understand the urge to spray. i guess you could always spray paint it back to gold. :)

ReplyDeleteAs much as I love the gold (it just speaks to me in that "stay true to the era" way) I think a bold lacquer red or aqua would look divine!
