As you may recall, our living room "art" is nothing more than a few ceiling medallions. Awhile back, when we first hung them, I showed you all how we did it.
Everything was fine and dandy until one day the lowest one {phew!} and biggest one randomly jumped off the wall. No human or doggie was injured so we were relieved!
I tried using my old method of "epoxy + metal d-ring" but the epoxy was just not into holding the d-rings in place like it had done previously. At this point I was getting nervous about how I was going to re-affix the meedallion to the wall because a nail wouldn't work and I felt like I had limited options.
Then, I had a lightbulb moment! A few weeks prior to the medallion-falling incident the nice people at 3M had sent me a huge container of their fabulous command products. I'm talking picture hanging supplies, hooks, bins, velcro frame holders...you name it, it was in there!
I flipped out when I received it because I felt a little bit like a celebrity receiving some swag--ha ha-love it! ; )
I went through the bin trying to find something that would work when I came across the velcro picture hanging strips!
I ripped those babies out of the package, followed the instructions and placed them on the medallion.
Then I positioned the medallion on the wall and then I removed said medallion to let the stickers cure...as seen below {don't mind my crooked strips--they still held it!}:
And finally after an hour, D and I attached the medallion velcro to the wall velcro and it's been smooth sailing ever since!
I totally recommend grabbing yourself some of these. Now I'm thinking of using some for the rest of my plates I want to add to our kitchen wall! Oh, the possibilities!
xoxo
P.S. Yes, I was sent this package free of charge...but no, I wasn't asked to blog about it. It's almost ironic that the medallion incident seemed to happen at the perfect time to showcase 3M's kindness. Additionally, I definitely did not receive any $$ incentive for posting this. I Promise! I was truly impressed with their product!

How did you receive this package for free? I want one!!!!
Love those - I used them in our bedroom on a wall that is thin paneling and I couldn't use nails etc. The only thing I would mention is to check it on occasion and make sure the velcro is tightly sealed. One of our pictures fell off the wall a few weeks ago and I had to refasten it. No biggie aside from scaring me in the middle of the night. :)
Wow, I'm so jealous that you got a whole goodie box of 3M stuff! I seriously those things for hanging everything! They are also great for really indecisive people like me who want to change things around alot and don't want a billion holes in the wall. :)
I've used them for various projects around the house. They hold up well upstairs but everything in the basement fell off the walls - I'm thinking it had something to do with the humidity level down there. So use with caution (especially if you want them to hold plates)!
I can't wait too see the plate wall! Please post soon!

What a nice surprise to recieve!! I have used them for several months on two monogram plates I have hung in my girls room. Works like a charm!! No holes or ugly plate hangers. I've always admired your medallion decor around your TV console. Genius!!
ive used those little velcro strips before! they are heaven!!
I love 3M!! I used the same hanging strips to hang my pom poms on the ceiling b/c regular tape wouldn't support all the weight. Another great thing about their command series is that it doesn't leave any glue residue.
Hey, glad no one was injured. I LOVE your new header! Gorgeous!
I LOVE those strips!
You lucky girl! I'm very impressed that those strips held it up. Yay 3M!
that is pure awesome{ness}! and can I tell you how much I love your new header--and of course te yellow chevron! so fab!
Have I mentioned before what a fab job you did with that room? Such a small space, but you have the perfect amount of "stuff" in there. ;) Happy hump day.
I just tried using those strips for my ceiling tiles in my kitchen but they fell a few minutes later. I tried using little hooks and DUCT TAPE but that also failed. We'll see what happens next! I might try the strips again since you had success.
You ARE a celebrity. I'm glad 3M knows.
Wow, thats awesome they sent you a box of goodies. I use those things all the time for holiday and party decorating. They absolutely do work.
@Dana-A rep just emailed me and asked if I'd like them! I was like, yes-please! : )
I LOVE your new couch!!! I have been looking for a couch exactly like this. May I ask where you bought it & who makes it? Any other information about the couch would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much & I adore your style!! :)
@Little vel-I got the couch locally at a place called Phillip's Furniture. I don't know the name of it...sorry!
Hi! I'm new to your blog and already found (finally!) some solutions to some serious design challenges. I hope you don't mind if I steal your medallions on the wall idea...promise to credit you ;) Now I only have one more blank space to come up with and it's really a doozy.
Our walls are like kryptonite and it's impossible to get anything hung without using a hammerdrill, which intimidates me. :(
I tried these strips in our bedroom and they are working out great!
I use this exact product to "hang" frames to my walls...When I see a beautiful picture frame, I don't hold back, even if it does not have the correct "hanging fixture" on the back because I know I can use the 3M velcro strips.
